Does anyone have a picture of the gear case where the reverse lockout would be? Mine is missing. I just need to know how it actually attaches. The exploded view isn’t helping me just kind of show the general location

Sorry for all the newb questions. Do these old engines not have a reverse lockout? Or do I just tighten the bolt that goes through the mount My 89 has a switch on the engine to lock it in place to make sure the engine doesn't move while in reverse. I really appreciate all the help even if you...

Is this groove supposed to be in this. It's only on the one side. It's in the upper part of the gear case. The driveshaft goes through it

@jimmbo @racerone I appreciate all the info this is helping me tremendously. After reading the link that was posted and finding some more I believe i have got the right parts to be able to run 12v on this system. I am searching for a 12v choke solenoid but they seem to be expensive.

That's a great link. Thank you so much. @jimmbo the cables are not that big. Let me get home and take some pics. I think now that you said that and I'm thinking about it. They definitely aren't thick and the starter may be 12 v

@hardwater fisherman looks like it hooks up the exact smae as my 89 johnson so I have everything I need to hook up my cables! I just need to find exploded views with part numbers for the exhaust housing area and the engine itself.

It helps that's for sure. Gonna do more digging tomorrow. I cleaned the drive and put all the new gears and bearings in this evening. Hoping to have it completed and ready to fire by the weekend as long as I don't need any parts lol. 🤞
