1986 Bayliner Capri with AQ125B won’t go past idle in reverse

My boat works with the full range of throttle motion in forward and moves full forward and back in neutral, but won’t go past idle in reverse (it doesn’t even get completely to idle, but the prop moves). The throttle gets some resistance and won’t move. I haven’t tried to force it too much, as I...

Penta 270 Outdrive Downlock isn’t engaging

Yeah, I disassembled it and it looks like the top of the suspension yoke is worn down so that the button can’t go all the way through. I think I’ll drill that through and that should fix the problem. I think I’ll leave the bolt there for fear that I’ll make things worse by trying to take that...

Penta 270 Outdrive Downlock isn’t engaging

I found what I think is the problem but I’m not sure. My thrust sleeve is only barely protruding out of the part it passes through. It doesn’t look like it has enough travel to allow the hooks to engage. Either that or the push rod is bent and that’s why it isn’t sticking through all the way...

Penta 270 Outdrive Downlock isn’t engaging

Hey guys, my Penta 270 sterndrive isn’t staying down in reverse. The hooks to keep it down aren’t engaging when it is all the way lowered. The springs appear to be in good shape, but the hooks aren’t quite engaged in the down position? Any suggestions on what to look at? I’ve seen some other...

    Exhaust Manifold Advice

Unfortunately, the Osco is online so I can’t get a really good look at it aside from the pictures I posted. The HGE is also new if that changes things. Used Osco vs new HGE.

Here are some pictures of the Osco if that helps make a better decision

    Exhaust Manifold Advice

I’m buying a new exhaust manifold for my AQ125B and I’m trying to decide between a used Osco that looks to be in pretty great shape or a new HGE. The HGE costs about $25 more. Does anybody have experience with either of those brands? If so, which would you recommend considering one is used and...

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

The previous owner told me that it wasn’t, but he did live close to the ocean so it’s quite possible. I’m trusting him less and less as more issues arise.

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

I don’t think so. It looks to me like the water from the engine is pumped up into the strainer basket, then through the strainer and into the exhaust manifold. Am I wrong on that?

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

Yeah that’s what I’m leaning toward. Any suggestions on measuring flow without putting it back on the boat? I’m a little wary of putting it on just to take it off again with all the old connections on the adjacent parts

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

I thought the same at first. The cap is good with a solid gasket. I’m leaning more toward the exhaust manifold after closer inspection now

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

No, I’m not loosing any antifreeze. I’m actually thinking now that it might be the exhaust manifold after all. When I looked at it closer, there is more rust in it than I originally thought.

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

It’s not the heat exchanger. It’s the cap that goes on top of the chamber holding the strainer basket

    Raw Water System Cap Leaking

I have a Volvo Penta AQ125B in my Bayliner Capri. I’ve only had it a few weeks, so I’m still working some bugs out of it. Last weekend, when I had it out on the lake, it started leaking water out of the raw water system cap when I went to a high throttle setting. It didn’t leak at lower throttle...
