    1967 Evinrude Speed Twin 9.5

I also have a Evinrude 6hp that I saved from the scrap yard that I got running very good. I think its around 1966 or 67. Now that little engine is real slow. Wide open I think I can almost swim faster than what she goes! This is just a hobby for me I'm 65 years old and it helps keeps my brain...

    1967 Evinrude Speed Twin 9.5

She runs very well for a 55 year old engine. I got her for scrap about a year ago and rebuilt her top to bottom just as a winter project. It goes as fast as a 9.5 should I was wondering if there was a way to get a more speed without using more RPM's. That's why I was asking about if there was a...

    1968 Evinrude 9.5 over heating

I did order an OEM impeller kit from MarineEngein.com. They did not have a lower unit seal kit for my 9822D so I winged it and found a kit on Ebay. I looked up the head bolt torque and it should be 96 to 120 inch pounds so I will go to the middle with 110. Now its a waiting game for the parts...

    1968 Evinrude 9.5 over heating

I pulled the head and was surprised that there was not that much corrosion. I expected much more given the age of the engine. I took my dermal tool with a round chain saw stone and cleaned up the water jackets the best I could and then finished with rolled up emery 180 grit paper and then blew...

    1968 Evinrude 9.5 over heating

I picked up this old Evinrude Speedtwin 9.5 for scrap and got it running. Its over heating at high speed. My thermo scanner shows the water temp coming out at 95 at an idle and 180 at high speed. I pulled the thermostat cover off and found the thermostat has been removed so I assume someone else...

    1968 Evinrude 9.5 Speedtwin

I took it apart again and found I put to much oil on the cam wiper, Cleaned everything and replaced with just a touch of lithium grease Also found a small crack in my fuel line. Foolish me, I put in all these new parts in and (and new fuel pump) didn't replace the fuel line also. Its to hot down...

    1968 Evinrude 9.5 Speedtwin

I picked up this little Evinrude 9.5 Speedtwin. Externally it looks very nice. Who ever had it took very good care of it. I checked the compression and it was dry check at 85/88 pounds. I didn't do a wet test. I completely rebuilt the ignition system, Cleaned the carburetor and installed a new...
