The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
That helps a lot. Thank you so much. Any idea if it's really necessary to remove the spark plugs and fog the engine or is leaving the engine in a verticle position enough to prevent anything from freezing. I live in northern Ky/southern Ohio area right on the Ohio river
I been reading and getting more confused. Does this particular engine need to be winterized at all? I plan on changing the engine oil, gear lube and treating the gas. Past that it seems to have a self drawing (water) system in the verticals position unless I'm reading wrong. Any thoughts?
Does anyone know where I can get an owners manual for a 40 hp Bigfoot Mercury engine serial number 1c214110? I'm needing to find info on general maintenance like engine oil type, outdrive gear type, spark plug type, things in that nature. Thank y'all in advance.
I may do that. I'll be needing a new prop soon. I'm not to worried about the speed. I just like modding things up to make them better the new. But I don't believe the cost is worth gaining 3-4mph at best. It gets me fishing and that's all that matter. I'll spend my hard earned money on some...
When you say looked it up, are you referring to max RPM for a 2018 40 hp big foot Mercury engine? Because my rpm gauge on the dash maxes out at 7k RPM and I just confirmed I'm getting 5200 RPM at wot
It's all starting to make sense. I'm going to pay particular attention next time out. For what I got, 16-18 mph with load is good enough I suppose. It gets me to the big catfish holes lol. Thank you for all your help
The 2004 was 16 foot as well but a lot lighter. I could pick it up by the trailer tongue and move it around in the yard. I can't quite do that with this 2018 bass buggy
I'm thinking my max rpm may be 7000. But I could be wrong. But I know it's at least 6k. I'll have to look tomorrow. I'm needing a new prop. Would you have any recommendations on a good prop and pitch you could steer me towards? Thank you
It might not and I'm fine if it doesn't. I just wanted to get some input. My last 2004 pontoon had a 40 hp 2 stroke and gps pegged it at 25 mph. But I do believe this 2018 sun tracker is a bit heavier
I disagree about buying pontoon boats. They are in my opinion the all around best fishing boat you can buy. I was just curious about tweaking the engine. I read somewhere along the lines about taking out the restrictor and replacing the ecm. That would essentially turn my 40 hp into a 60hp. On...
I just picked up a 2018 sun tracker 16 dlx fishing buggy with a 40 hp Bigfoot engine. The boat and engine has less then 50 hours on it. I'm getting around 16-18 mph according to gps. I know this pontoon ain't gonna win any races but Is there any modification that can be done to improve this...
It's just that alarm went off. No idea why. Oils are full. Temp gauge was reading a hair below 160. I'll have to keep an eye on it I guess. Ty for your response
I put the boat on the river today. Long story short. I put in a new 140 degree thermostat, new circulation pump and new impeller. All quicksilver parts. After running about 2-3 miles on the river at WOT or close to it, my temp gauge got 160 degrees or just shy from it. My temperature reading...
These temperature reading was done with a IR gun after running about 2 miles on the river. Do you think the manifolds are to hot? This picture was pulled from the internet to show where water is coming from after impeller change. My ear muffs are bigger then what's in the picture but my water...
I'll try keep this short. After replacing my 140 deg thermostat, My exhaust manifolds and elbows was reading the following temp with ir gun:
Starboard Manifold - 175/Riser - 115.
Port Manifold - 170/Riser - 104. Temp gauge reading 160. So I replaced the circulating pump and done the impeller...
My stern drive is alpha1 gen 2 serial number 0F333583. I used quicksilver 8M0100526 water pump kit. Should I have used 817275Q05 Water Pump Impeller Repair Kit instead? It could explain some of my issues if so. Thank you
