Alpha 1 gen 1 vent screw thread size & pitch

Also, do you know the part number for the connector mercruiser use for the 3/8 16 vent hole to barb fitting please? I want to make it as 'slim line' as possible, so ideally a 5/16 barb to 3/8 16 male thread, or even 3/8 16 to 3/8 BSP ( which I think is 19 pitch?) hard to find the right thing! Or...

Alpha 1 gen 1 vent screw thread size & pitch

Hi all I want to retrofit a DIY thru hull oil reservoir to my alpha 1 gen 1, so does anyone know the vent screw thread size & pitch please? Any tips on doing this? I remember seeing a mercruiser bulletin about it but can't seem to find it anywhere... Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Help with 1990 4.3lx 205hp quadrajet rods and jets

Hi, I have a 4.3lx 205hp v6 and I am rebuilding the Rochester quadrajet 4 barrel. The metering rods in there when I took it apart are 44b and DR secondary and jet is 72 size.... Is this correct? The manal says 0.036 rods with DH secondaries and 0.066 jet size..... Thanks

    Help with water in oil

Thanks, I've fitted new heads today, just waiting for some final bits to arrive and I will be testing next Friday.... I aquasteeled the block, so hopefully it will slow down any more corrosion, and I will flush after every use with oily water, and will be filling with anti freeze over winter...

    Help with water in oil

I think it looks worse than it is, but it is 31 years old and who knows what happened to it before me.... the cylinder walls feel pretty thick to me, I was expecting wafer thin, but they seem very thick My plan is to spray everything inside and out with aquasteel and hope for the best with some...

    Help with water in oil

So I took the other head off and it looks OK, the block seems OK too..... I hope! I did stick a magnet down the cylinder water jackets and got a lot of corrosion out, but the cylinder walls seem really thick.... Hope this isn't a problem

    Help with water in oil

Thanks, I only bought it a month ago, rebuilt the drive completely, ready to go out and ran it to check it all over and loads of water in the oil.... The seller had loads of receipts etc for winterising it every year, and it was winterised when I bought it, although I started it up and ran fine...

    Help with water in oil

I pressure tested the intake manifold today, all good. I really hope it is just that hole in the head and not a cracked block. The heads are off now so I guess no way to test the block other than filling coolant passages with water and seeing if the level goes down?

    Help with water in oil

Yes, definitely loads of water in cylinders.... Which i assume is from this hole which pours in when exhaust valve opens.... But wondering if that hole/water in cylinders would allow that much water into the crank case?

    Help with water in oil

Block looks great.... I haven't cleaned the deck up yet but will do ASAP. Boat only has 166 hours on it so surprised they've rotted like this... I just hope that this hole is the cause of loads of water in my oil.... But assume the only way it would get into the crank case is via rings.... So...

    Help with water in oil

Hi, I have a mercruiser 4.3lx 1990. Loads of water in my oil and in cylinders 2, 4 and 6, and also number 3. I originally thought it was riser/exhaust gasket so replaced those, but still have the same problem, so I took off the starboard head and there is a hole in the exhaust port of cylinder...

Alpha one gen 1 upper unit lower water seal

Bt doctur has listed the correct size for a gen 1....the seal I have put in is for a gen 2, however I think it will work as the dimensions are pretty close. I think it's spring toward the female drive coupler, so spring facing up towards the top cap with 4 bolts, that will be facing down when...

Alpha one gen 1 upper unit lower water seal

Thanks, so the one I have fitted has a slightly smaller O.D and I.D, hopefully 0.01'' smaller I.D will be fine!

Alpha one gen 1 upper unit lower water seal

That's what I installed..... 0.875 1.375 0.250..... Which I thought was the same as a gen 2 as both the lower most seals on a gen 2 are the same? Gen 1 has a larger 2nd oil seal above that one.....

Alpha one gen 1 upper unit lower water seal

I had a new seal arrive today, a slightly different one, this one is stamped 0.875 1.375 0.250, went in a hell of a lot easier than the one I tried yesterday! I think it's exactly the same as used in a alpha gen 2 which is good to know....phew all sorted! Now I just have to hope my bellhousing...

    Which prop/ is this ok?

Thanks, I don't know the specs atm, as I bought the boat as is, having to refresh the drive etc, so bought a best guess! Hopefully it'll be ok. assume if it only revs to say 4400 I need a 13.75 really ....

Hi All I am trying to press in the upper unit lower water seat for the lower unit shaft to sit in.... Number 12 on the drawing. I've already ruined one new seal as it didn't go in straight and bent, I don't want to ruin another! I am going to out it in the freezer. but is there anything else...
