    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

Thanks for all the responses everyone! So here is where I am at now and the boat is running GREAT! at least the best it has since I have started tweaking it.. no bugs, no hesitation, and will run WOT without any hesitations or lean spots. 4% richer rods and primaries- edelbrock 1451 and 1429...

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

Gotcha, thanks for the input! So here's something else I am wondering. My boat was originally a Gi that I converted to a carb. The Gi calls for a .045 spark plug gap and the GL calls for a .035.. which one should I follow?

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

OK so today was a good day! Made some headway I think. I think I figured out the root cause of the 2700-3000 rpm bog. So I had 2 fuel pressure gauges- one electric and 1 liquid filled tee'd off of my pressure regulator. I decided to get rid of the liquid filled and just go with the 1 electric...

I'm also starting to wonder if this may be an ignition coil issue- just starting to research that possibility..

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

Good to know! I think I may go out and put the stock jets and rods back in, and mess with springs since I can easily change out springs while on the water.. It's tough getting a boat dialed in when the closest water is an hour away..

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

Haven't pulled the plugs after a hard run yet- that's next on the list.. I did try putting the stock orange springs back in and couldn't tell much of a difference from the pink ones.. have a steady 5.2-5.5 fuel psi at WOT as well..

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

I had a major bog at 3000 rpm - at WOT it would immediately rev up to 3000 and then bog down to about 2700 and stay there struggling to get up on plane.. once up on plane it would rev up to max rpms no problem. I started with upgrading the accelerator pump to the 1468 and left everything else...

Edelbrock 1409 tuning and plug reading

Hello there, I know it's been a while since this thread was updated, but since I have the exact setup you have I'm hoping by now maybe you have got er dialed in..? I just started a new thread but am hoping to hear from you directly as well 🤞🤞

    Edelbrock 1409 tuning

Hello everyone! I have finally had a chance to get the boat out on the water a few times this spring, and so far she has been running like a champ- almost. The only issue is a short "bog" anytime I go WOT. Doesn't matter if it's from a standstill or if I'm cruising. If I go WOT it bogs for maybe...

Need help with parts list- converting TBi to old school carb

Yes! I'm sorry this spring has been CRAZY busy with work and play. I have had the boat out about 3 times and so far it's been running flawlessly. I will try and get the time to do a parts list, but overall it's pretty straightforward. I kept the 2 stock fuel pumps, and went with an aeromotive...

Need help with parts list- converting TBi to old school carb

Ok, now onto the oil pressure switch- here are the instructions for how it needs to be wired- So here is how I wired it for the fuel pumps- rather than having the fuel pumps run straight off of this switch "C" (as the diagram tells you is ok) I opted to have "C" serve as the "signal" wire for...

Need help with parts list- converting TBi to old school carb

Good news! I was able to trace the circuit for the ignition coil, and it looks like I won't have to do ANYthing for it to work normally. If you look at relay 14, pin 87 powers the pink/white wire. When I ohmed the pink/white wire with the purple wire off the ignition harness, voila resistance...

Need help with parts list- converting TBi to old school carb

Ok, yesterday I made serious progress with the fuel pump wiring- I will add pics of what I did, I think it turned out great and looks factory as I was able to utilize the factory fuel pump relay and fuse to make it work. Tested with my multimeter and it even works! lol.. So now I am onto the...

Need help with parts list- converting TBi to old school carb

So, on the Gi diagram- the purple wire from the coil appears to have a very similar routing as the GL harness- it doesn't seem dependent on the Mefi that I can tell. The fuel pump on the Gi MAY need to be wired with it's own relay, fuse, and oil pressure switch as it looks tied into the Mefi...
