    Stuck in drive

Ok.. after taking to a coworker that has some experience with outboards, I think I know what you were talking about. Because the motor dies alot.. i never rotated the throttle back to the idle position. When it died i would take off the cawling and move the blocking plate by hand. But...

    Stuck in drive

Hello all... I recently purchased a 1983 15hp evinrude for a winter project. First time on the water and it got stuck in forward. A plate under the fly wheel had oreinted its self in a position that prevent the shfter from moving. It went in to foward smoothly so im assuming that the plate...

    Stuck in drive

Yes. It will shift in idle.. the plate seems to only move and block the shifter after a hard run(when its able to run hard because of the spitting and sputtering). When I got it it would not start. Put a little fuel in a cylinder a couple times the primed with carb cleaner and it finally...

Alternator not putting out 14 volts.

Hello all I have a 1990 larson 180 lazer wit a 3.7l mercruiser. The boat had an alternator kit on it when I bought it(replaced the original stator that it came with). The voltage gauge usually show about 11 volts at idle then drops a little at cruising speed. The alternator appears to be new...

Bikesdy The sticker says 4200-4600 rpms. Thanks for pointing me to it. Scott06. The seller told me that the boat. Belong to a family that was on the big side and enjoyed tubing(not sure exactly what that meant but I'm assuming the boat was loaded down). So I imagine your right. They needed...

    Trim issues

Just finished replacing the trim pump. Lower unit raises and lowers perfectly. Whether it was a bad pump or loosening and tightening wires bettered my connection, we'll never know. But Ill have some peace of mind when pulling out knowing I won't drag off whats leftt of the skeg. Thanks...

    Best prop fuel economy

Thanks QBhoy.. yes it's a 17 pitch.. from the little research I did on that motor I've came to the conclusion that since it's still on the water it must be a reliable one(knock on wood). It does have the 4" intercooler(if that's what it's called) instead of the 3". But thanks for.your concern.

Thanks bikestdy. great to find someone with this engine. Thanks for the great prop advice. What is your cruising speed and rpms with your setup.? And do you have any idea on mpg or gph? Is your 3.7 a closed cooling system? Any info on your experience with a closed cooling system would be...

Hello all I have a 1991 Larson 18 laser se With a mercuiser 3.7L alpha 1 Gen I and I currently have a 17x14.5 prop. At WOT I'm running about 38mph at 5300 rpm. I am not familiar with the 3.7L. But 5300rpm seems a bit high (at least compared to the 3.0L , 4.3L and 5.7L that were in our...
