    Pontoon trolling motor mounts?

I don’t see an edit button, but I should add I would like it to tuck under the deck if possible stowed, and I can keep it full vertical up while underway. There’s gotta be a way to do this, we are cloning sheep.

    Pontoon trolling motor mounts?

What’s a good trolling motor mount, for the front of the pontoon? Anyone run a rear trolling motor? Trying to find something that won’t be “in the way” so much. Will need to be quick detach for party days and what-not, it’s really too bad there isn’t an under the belly trolling motor setup...

    Small cheap roof for storage?

I have a 21ft pontoon, i was considering takiing a chunk out of my fence in the backyard to park it for the winter, and getting one of those canvas "V" shaped things to set tightly overtop of it. Kindof like those little shade roofs they use for events outdoors. All i need is something to keep...

Prop hub slipping? Mark it with a sharpie the run it, and check. Could be slipping under power.

Pontoon sitting for over 10 years

I use 303 aerospace protectant. Not a fan of armorall on anything, too greasy. Im firmly convinced 303 is the best thing on the market for a protectant. Once every so often i douse the seats and wipe off, especially in the higher sunlight areas. (tops of seats.) Mechanic in the boat shop told...

    Bimini Top Replacement?

Thanks for the help guys, i managed to find someone to sew mine up. Looks like the did a good job, but if it doesnt hold up, i will be replacing it with a pontoonstuff unit. I do love my bimini top, but hopefully the will get stock back in for black canvas'.

    Bimini Top Replacement?

Well i got ahold of an upholstery shop that said (guesstimate) $120 to replace the zippers. Im going to send it to him and see what he says when he sees it. It does really suck having to replace a 4 month old bimini top!! Who the hell came up with the word bimini? Seems like noones sure how to...

    Wheel bearings full of water

I could agree to disagree on that one, as wheres this excessive amount of grease going to go under thermal growth? if the cavity was truly 100% full, it would force the seals out. And once the seals are out, you have no choice but to purge-grease. Any precision engineering professional will let...

    Wheel bearings full of water

thisis going to have to be some air space inorder for your bearings to not absolutely detonate. If they were 100% full, the friction from forcing the grease out of the way of the bearing (as we call it "roller push") would causing the bearing to run excessively hot until eventually the excess...

    fuel mileage

My 90F 4 stroke yamaha 21ft sylvan seems to pretty darn fuel efficient, but at WOT it doesnt hesitate to chew up gas when heavily loaded and towing a tube. I 2nd what ahicks said, if your actually planning to cover some reasonable amount of ground and are concerned with fuel efficiency, a deck...

    Bimini Top Replacement?

Well it happened. The top on my 2021 sylvan pontoon shredded. Drive it to the lake almost every day, without the protective boot on. The other day, wind came up, had a hell of a fight getting it on the trailer in 3ft waves, managed to slam it on the trailer by parking the trailer half out of...

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

RPM rang is staying above 5500 per spec, but i just notice some erattic sounding ventilation noises, and shifting everyone towards the backisnt really an option, as the pontoons pretty full at that point. its only an issue at WOT, when trying to scoot to another part of the lake. Like i said i...

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

I appreciate the reply, and yes it does seem like changing the trim helps even if im all the way down. i should add its a 21ft sylvan dual log, and its almost as if with all the extra weight, the tubes are disturbing/displacing water infront of the prop, and im just grabbing a steady stream of...

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

So it works fine unloaded, but I’ve noticed when loaded down pretty much max, I have a lot of cavitation issues intermittently with the prop. It seems I can play with the trim a bit and make it mostly go away, (deeper DOES NOT Seem to be better.) it’s not a huge deal but just curious what...

    smart home opinions

Still no "smart" home stuff for me. We dont really spend enough time indoors anymore to need it. If we are indoors, we are either eating, sleeping, or cleaning up after tornado children. I feel that the would voice activated stuff is more novelty than anything, but i do use it while driving now...

    Wheel bearings full of water

Precisely. The benefit for the common man is a little bit of give, as you could pretty much grease them all day and it will keep forcing the excess out, but once a bearing has to "Push" through the grease, it heats up, thermal expansion tightens up the tolerances, grease thins out, further...

    14mph speed

whats the possibility that your fuel is of ****-poor quality, after sitting all winter? Octane in modern fuels drops fast during storage, which would lead to it feeling sluggish. The other thing to check is to make sure your hub isn't beginning to slip. Put a mark on it, run it, and see if your...

    Wheel bearings full of water

I do industrial maintenance for a living so i understand the idea of "too much is worse than not enough." But the purpose of bearing buddies is to maintain continual positive pressure to prevent water intrusion. The the inside bearing gets the overflow from the outer bearing. The same idea can...

    Wheel bearings full of water

I 3rd the bearing buddy thing. They are spring loaded and maintain a positive pressure of grease on the bearing. They are pretty popular where im at for boat trailers as we have a pretty short boating season, and the water inside will crack bearing races in the winter of you dont at least purge...
