Virtual Memory increases on Pentium 4 pc

After recently adding 1 GB of memory (from 256 KB) to my pentium 4 pc, the response improved for about a week or two. Now it's slowed down, and I get messages every day from Windows SP that the virtual memory needs to increase its pagefile. What gives? I disable the hiberfile so that's not...

    motor oil for hot climate

My Ford F150 is supposed to have 5w-20 according to Ford and having moved to Southwest Florida, I'd feel more comfortable with a 10w-30, especially during the hot seasons. Any comments, suggestions? Some say never use a 10w-40. Why? Lube dude?

    Computer Problem-no sound

My 3-year old pc was working fine until last night when I realized the sound was not working. The sound card and speakers are OK since I can play audio CDs, but in the Windows 98 mode, no sounds at all. I checked everything I could using Windows device manager and Norton System Works and...

    GPS display visibility

    bilge pump float switch

At what water level does the float switch on the bilge pump supposed to turn on the pump? Mine requires about 4 inches and that seems high. The dealer guy says they all vary and this particular pump/switch combination requires the water level to cover the pump. This doesn't sound right to me...

    Carbon Guard

My dealer rcommended an OMC product called Carbon Guard to minimize and prevent carbon build up for 2-stroke outboard engines. At $10 for 12 fl oz, it's priced like scotch. Any use or experience with the effectiveness of this stuff? Apparently also useful for 4-strokes according to the label.

    Frozen Screw

My 2001 9.9 hp Johnson has a flush port screw that is frozen. I've tried a hand impact driver, a screw driver with a hex fitting and wrench, heating it with a small butane torch, tapping it with a hammer, liquid wrench and swearing at it. It's still frozen. Any other ideas? Thanks for any help.

    Help-boat for wife

My wife wants a runabout to check out the rivers and creeks around the chesapeake bay. We've looked at new and used boats about 18' and less with various engines. We narrowed down to outboard engines only, and safety as a requirement. This is a boston whaler ventura--very, very pricey. Any...
