    Vapor lock or something else?

I joined with unlimited tows for $130.00. I never knew the service was something that you could join.

    Vapor lock or something else?

Well, after the $500 towing bill anyway. I did find a disconnected vacuum type hose that may or may not have been part of the issue. I talked to a local mechanic that wasnt sure what the hose was for.

    Vapor lock or something else?

I checked mine and it was working just fine. I added about 6 gallons of premium fuel (which topped off the tank) and took it back out for a test run. It was over 90 degrees and very humid. I ran the boat on 3 different excursions. Waited different time intervals before restarting ( 15, 30, 45...

    Vapor lock or something else?

Okay. I think that the "closed loop" part confused me. I will look for the valve on my boat as soon as I can. Thanks.

    Vapor lock or something else?

I have read that on a chemical forum and I had a 100% full tank of it.

    Vapor lock or something else?

Thanks for the info. Did yours restart after a cool down period with a busted valve? Also, my cooling system is not a closed loop, so I may not have that valve. I will certainly check and see. Thanks.

    Vapor lock or something else?

Thanks for the info. Like previously stated, this was the first time that this has ever happened in 6 years of running this boat in very hot conditions. The only thing different this time was that the tank was completely full of winter gas and I did not mix in fresh fuel before going out...

    Vapor lock or something else?

Let me try and find it. I'm wondering if a full tank of winter blend gas may have caused it. Usually, I add fresh fuel after winter storage. Didn't do that this time. That said, having VL after six years strikes me as very odd.

    Vapor lock or something else?

Greetings. I experienced a condition with my 5.0 MPI that has me baffled. After being winterized with a full tank of fuel, I ran 30 minutes to the local sand bar. After about two hours, I tried to leave. The engine started, sputtered and died. I tried starting it for the next 30 minutes with no...

A couple of different winterizing questions.

Thanks for the detailed response. I assumed that some water could back flush when reducing power since my exhaust tips have a flapper in them, but I wasnt sure past that. I used to do the adding AF with muffs, but it got to be a bit of a pain. I now just drain ( I have an easy drain knob) add AF...

A couple of different winterizing questions.

I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding winterizing techniques/ theory and I will try and be brief. These questions relate to things that I have read regarding different winterizing techniques. My motor is a 5.0 1. If a motor is run on muffs until it reaches operating temp, and then the...

? about thru hull exhaust flow and temp variances.

Pulled boat onto driveway and put boat on muffs for flush about 30 minutes after being out of the water. Immediately got hot water out of starboard exhaust, but port side was cool. Ran for about 7 minutes with port side never getting hot. Also noticed starboard side had much better flow than...

Strange line appeared in gelcoat on transom

I found this line (not a crack) on my boat. It starts dead in the center of where the transom meets the outdrive (at the top) and runs straight up for a few inches then gets fainter. You can actually feel a "raised" bead of gelcoat for about 2 inches. Guy on Baja forum said it was a centerline...

    ? about cooling water flow.

I am trying to get a better understanding of the water flow on my 2004 Merc 305 mpi. The diagram in my manual is a bit confusing to follow (too many arrows-with some going both directions). As such, let me ask this basic question: If I were to drain the engine block of its cooling water and then...

Engine oil charted capacity verses actual dipstick level

I have a Merc 5.0 I/O that per the manual takes 5.5 quarts of oil. The manual does not reference levels "with or without" a filter change as do most auto manuals. After warming up engine and changing the oil and filter, the engine took only 4 quarts to reach the "fill" line. Even after running...
