    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

I have removed the dribbler valve from the bell housing and will be plugging that hole. I have taken a bell housing gasket and flipped it to where the hole where the dribbler valve was will now be covered. So the hole will be water tight. No water should leak back through the transom because the...

    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

So the only way the drive vents is thru the reservoir hose?

    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

Plugging off the line to the bell housing should be all I need to do correct? Since the transom fitting nipple is broke there is no way I can plug it from the outside. And water shouldn’t leak back through as long as the body of the fitting is intact I believe. Any other advice? Thanks.

    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

I have done that. Can I block off that hole where the dribbler valve was so no water can get in the drive and leave it like that for now without it hurting anything?

    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

I understand. I know the drive would have to manually checked instead of being able to check the reservoir or go off the low oil alarm. But is there anything that would be hurt from me blocking it off? I just put the motor in this boat and it was a pain to say the least. The engine sits back in...

    2003 Crownline oil reservoir fitting

The oil reservoir fitting nipple has broke. There is enough left of the nipple that we could get a hose on it but it I don’t know how confident I am about it staying on there and worried about it coming off while it’s in the water. My question is I can’t even see the fitting from inside the...

And yes I want to find the problem instead of mask the problem.

Thank you. I’m going to clean it tonight with some MAF cleaner and see what happens.

    2002 Crownline 5.7

I was unable to find the map sensor. I probably just overlooked it. I checked for vacuum leaks and I had no luck there. Again I could unplug the IACV and it ran perfect. I assumed if it had a vacuum leak that caused the erratic idle it would still do it even after I unplugged the IACV. Idk maybe...

    2002 Crownline 5.7

The customer stated that the boat would die (only sometimes) when he would bring the boat back to neutral. I checked it out and found it was loping (kind of like it was loading up) and ended up unplugging the idle air control valve and it never acted up after that. Naturally I thought the valve...

    Manifold/riser 3.0 mercruiser

So I found that the manifold is cracked. Pretty bad it seems. Didn’t take too long to pour water into the cylinders. Mainly the 4 cylinder. Now I’m at a crossroads because I have a feeling there is more than just that with how hot it got. I tested the compression and the front 2 cylinders were...

    Manifold/riser 3.0 mercruiser

If the riser gasket is bad, could water enter while running also? Or just after shut off.

    Manifold/riser 3.0 mercruiser

Ok thanks. Actually the engine got hot. So there was no water in the old oil. It had a grayish color to it. Not milky at all.

    Manifold/riser 3.0 mercruiser

Yes it was higher. The engine originally got hot. I know it could be the block, head, head gasket, or manifold/riser. I was just unsure of how a manifold could let water in. I mainly wanted to know if the manifold could leak water into the engine while it was running, because the oil was new and...

    Manifold/riser 3.0 mercruiser

I have a 3.0 mercruiser that is getting water in the oil and I know it could be a few different things. I’m in the stage of dissecting it now. I put new oil in it and ran it on muffs for about 15 minutes, shut it off checked the oil and it was a mud looking color. My question is, can someone...

    1986 3.0 mercruiser

The engine got hot and is now getting water in the oil. Is there a way to test to see if it’s the head gasket, head, or block without tearing it down one by one? Maybe a way to pressure test that will help determine?

    Chevy 305 mercruiser

I have a Chevy 305 that ending up getting so much water in the oil that it started spitting oil out of the dipstick. What’s the best way to check the head gasket and block without tearing it all apart first? Is there a way to pressure test the whole engine to help determine where I need to...
