The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Hello -
My boat was worked on and i noticed the speedometer was no loner working, after investigating the connection is severed.
Do you think something like this would work to patch it up so i dont have to run a new cable?
open to any other suggestions
hmm...link wont work. here is a picture...
HELP - lol - this is a nightmare
I'm back and i need HELP bad.
The part that was said to be found was again not right (it wont fit w/ the balance shaft)
This poor mecanic has went through multiple covers and none of them are working.
Let me help explain this better with photos.
I need the metal...
Guys, i need help....can you find this timing cover?
I have a '93-94 4.3 merc engine (LX i think, the 180 hp) engine (but its in a 1997 boat..which is odd)
Apparently someone installed the wrong timing cover which is why its leaking oil - the current installed is plastic but apparently i need...
Hello, someone play dad here and help a new boat owner out
I have a small 20ft open bow boat - it has one battery.
I've always charged the battery after each use, before the next boat trip - and used trickle charger.
However, i'm assuming i'm hurting the battery right? because the batter...
Was winterizing my engine for winter storage - one side of my engine, when i went to remove the brass drain plug, no only did the plug come right out, the dam socket came with it, so i know there are sockets threads still in the engine. see picture, normal plug on left, plug thats in the socket...
I have a 19' open bow - I story my boat anchor under the very front seat
sometimes the rope tangles and leaves one hell of a mess
what do you guys use? I think there is some rope harness, or spool/reel I could buy to keep it from being a rat nest
I've searched but can't seem to get the right...
question....
about to change my spark plugs, manual says 35-59571 but auto parts store couldn't match it.
google shows it converts to a NGK4323 (I think)
they didn't have NGK, so a matched model to that is R42T ... but when I got home and looked it up, that ngk model matches ALOT of ac delco...
Are boat registration numbers permanent?
I found a boat i'd like to buy, who says it has one owner that they sold new and was just traded in. but found what appears to be the exact same boat, using same front pic but has a different reg# in other pics. just trying to avoid getting "burnt"...
I never remember my outdrive being able to be picked up or pushed down a few inches - perhaps its just me not recalling correctly. I replaced one trim cyclinder, so now I'm wondering if I did not bleed or flush correctly - should there really be a good inch or two in play w/ the cylinder...
I need a trim cylinder - was shocked to see they are 400 dollars for seirra (alpha gen 2)
however, looks like I can get an SEI one for 120
does that even make sense? how bad is SEI - that's a huge price difference
While thinking it was my braided cables, I noticed a water bubble on the seal of my power trim cyclinder
:(
a 400$ part
any idea what estimated shop time for hourly fix is? 2 hour job? 1 hour job? etc
trying to set cost expectations
Hoping this is in the right spot
i'm new to boating as of the last couple years -
4.3 Merc - 19.6' boat 1997
I've always wondered - what happens if your trim pump blows out while using your boat, how do you get the drive back to the trailer position? is there manual override? do pumps just...
Hey all
I'm the one with the POS boat, that gets water in the bilge (was it water sports? night rain? crack in bottom?) sometimes
Well, I just noticed that the front of my engine, in the picture, the large spool with the belt, has a hole on the top and the bottom.
the bottom hole would drip...
Hello
i'm wondering if anyone has found any products to repair a large tear in vinyl or any crafty recommendations.
This is my bench seat in my boat, where everyone steps in from the dock
I've tried my own "vinyl" repair kits, but none of them seal it well or give me a large enough piece...
so....
never had one of these, trying it out
I guess I ordered the XXL version
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AY4O4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
the thing touches the bottom of my engine(oil pan)
is this a problem? not sure how hot the bottom of an oil pan gets
thanks...
How much of a concern are these?
surely they wont get better, but should I be in a rush, or even push to fix them? maybe they will come back, perhaps if they are not a problem, no point in repairing? I have no idea, but would like your opinion.
pictures make it look much worse than it looks in...
I've been getting some water in my bilge - even when im' not doing water sports.
sometimes my bilge fills up with a small 1/8 of an inch, other times (rougher water it seems) fills up to a good inch or more
got me looking under the boat and I found this nasty sucker (see attached)
I'm new to...
Current boat - owned 2.5 years (my first boat)
1997 Sylvan 19.6 foot with 4.3 Merc - 220 hp - bowrider - 350 hours
stole it for 3.5k, probably retails at like 6-7k
its paid off
has some comesmetic problems - one big tear in the seat, outside is pretty scruffed up, trailer is pretty rickety...
please remind me - I remember when the prop is all the way up, trailer mode, something is very very bad and will rip out the ujoints/bellows/gimble -something - just can't remember if that is only engaging the drive or even just starting it.
Can I launch the boat, leave up the prop and still...
I've been meaning to post this, read a ton of threads, none really answer my question or go back and forth on it
Here is my situation.
Its a busy, but small launch area.
typical oval launch drive, boat line is single lane, w/ trees - no way to get around, pass or "cut"
single dock, can use...
