-200° is pretty thick to try and suck up with the impeller. 1 gal -200° mixed with 1 gal water = -100°, mix 1 gal -100° with 1 gal water = -50°. It's possible the dealer did it like we do. We charge a flat amount of non-tox to each winterize (I'm not sure what amount that is - it's a "can" job...

When your friendly Mercury Marine dealer runs a serial number thru MercNet we are presented 2 options. 1. Shows us the name of the registered owner, any outstanding service bulletins, all warranty claims, date of manufacture, model description, model number and warranty duration. 2. is a screen...

It was a 5.0 2 BBL carb when it left the factory

Hope this boat is good for you! Power steering, salesman is full of it. If anything a B3 would be easier to steer due to the counter rotating props. Low fluid won't have any affect until it gets low enough to aerate the fluid - a couple of ounces won't do that. Could be a few things, stiff...

Yes, aluminum doesn’t rust, it corrodes. The anodes are there to sacrifice themselves to protect the aluminum.

If you have good alignment and those rear mounts don’t move more than 2-3 mm when you first go from idle to WOT in the water —- rear mounts are good. But I would recommend rechecking alignment in a few months to make sure.

What he said. I haven't had to replace any that are this new (already have the updated knurled design) but it is very common to need the washers when updating to this style from the old style. When you did the alignment, did you rotate the engine to 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 and recheck at all...

Happy you got it.

I now work the parts/service counter for a big dealer, and. It never fails to amaze me that people want to install parts that rarely go bad BUT THEY DON"T DO MAINTANECE. I've lost count on how many boats show up and the customer tells me they have replaced the O2 sensors, IAC, MAP and etc. I...

The tilting the motor up after shutdown is covered in all the bigger engines owners manuals. But they make it sound like it's only for oil smoke on start up. But I have never seen anything about needing to trim all the way down for starting. Usually just to make sure the water intakes are...

Yes, this engine uses and needs the cam sensor to run. Yes, you can swap them. No, I don't know if it's easy. This engine has 8 injector drivers in the PCM, it fires the injectors in pairs. I don't know if the CMP effects the injectors, I think it is just used for the ignition. Are you using the...

1/4” is a bit more than I remember, but it’s been a few decades since I worked on one of these. Might want to add a couple of small washers on the shift shaft to take up some of that play.

MerCruiser Service Manual #1 p/n 68648 covers these.

https://forums.iboats.com/threads/what-is-a-%E2%80%98pre-alpha%E2%80%99-drive.708737/ You most likely don't have a MC1 if it's the original drive. If my memory is correct --- only the 1A-1B-1C and EZ Shift had separate upper and lower oil cavity's. Serial number is needed to id these drives...

You only remove that plug when using the single point drain while boat is in the water.

42-44 psi at all speeds

Where did you get that info, I'm told 75hp and up are built in Fond du Lac. Also the small Mercs can be different from Tohatsu depending on model. Can get a bigger gear case, different tiller handle, different clamp bracket and trim set up. And a pretty cowl.

I don't think the 40-50-60 HP motors are Tohatsu. Pretty sure they are built in the Mercury plant in China. They seem to be good motors, don't see any unusual problems with them.

$20 bucks? Mister OEM here would probably being trying that.

30 year old boat has probably had more then a few changes. TB4 is fine, hope you have replaced that 3M scotch lock --- they BAD on marine stuff. The TB sensor was another problem child. 7 upgrades. The important one was adding a big ground wire. If you already have the big black wire that goes...
