The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Hi there folks,
I am in the process of removing a cracked exhaust manifold and sure enough it's not as easy as I hoped for.
As shown in the attached pictures the black exhaust pipe is blocking the rear manifold bolt, I know I read about doubling up the nuts tight enough to loosen the bolt from...
Hi I wonder if someone could tell me what Propellor Lock is compatible with my Volvo-Penta SX (single prop) stern? I am looking at the McGard Propellor Lock #74039 but McGard says they don't have one for the SX. But I have read elsewehere that the lock does fit.
Wonder if someone could help me. I have a 2003 Glastron 175 SX and need to replace the engine cover gas struts, but I am unable to find out what pressure they should be? Based on the pictures attached can someone suggest a pressure rating I should look for?
Thanks in advance.
In this pic the throttle lever position and the engine still running idle? I have nothing to compare it to but is this normal. Seems to me the throttle should kick in sooner. Does this indicate cable stretch?
Guys - I have a 2003 Glastron 175 SX (180hrs) with this Volvo Penta tilt/trim pump.
The pump sometimes hesitates going up or down. Also the fluid container is "wet" on the outside just below the pump seals.
Otherwise the pump and container are in great condition and there surely must be an...
Wondering if someone here knows the specs on the torque requirements for the two bolts that holds the starter motor in place. I have replaced the two broken bolts with the correct new ones. Right now I went as hand tight as I could go.
This is on a 2003 3.0 motor.
Thanks in advance.
Hans
Hi,
I have one new and a rebuilt trim cylinder and cleaned the tilt/trim pump/reservoir. All fresh fluid and the trim cylinders are primed and go up and down no problem and stay up when stored. No leaks!
So now when running the boat in the water at speed the drive keeps dropping down and I have...
Re: rebuilding trim cylinder SX-M
as promised some pictures.
one shot of all components of the trim cylinder (minus seals)
the cap (old seals on left - new seals on right)
the old wiper seals were disintegrating - the one in picture is the worse one
and the piston (old seals on left -...
Re: rebuilding trim cylinder SX-M
I have received the trim cylinder rebuild kit and these are the contents:
A cheap adjustable (10~30mm) spanner wrench was included.
I have other projects on the go but hope to start within the next few weeks.
Will update this thread.
cheers
Re: rebuilding trim cylinder SX-M
Hi - I was wondering how the water would get into the system but obviously if a cylinder is leaking fluid it can also suck the water in.
In the meantime I have removed the outdrive plus cylinders. I also removed the pump and reservoir and cleaned it thoroughly...
Re: Impeller on an SX-M drive?
Thanks guys for the responses.
I am starting to understand the system.
One other question I have - I see the line going into the heat exchanger from the transom, and a line going out as shown on the picture - this line goes into the manifold but then where does it...
Hi I wonder if anyone could tell me where the impeller is on a Volvo Penta SX-M?
The 3.0 engine has it's own fresh water cooling.
Is it possible the impeller is mounted on the engine?
Thanks
New here and first project,
I am planning to rebuild the trim cylinders on my Volvo Penta SX-M stern drive.
Been reading a few threads on the forum and there was talk about the OMC Seal Kit 985060 for around $30.
One of my cylinders is leaking and water gets in thus the fluid is milky.
I also...
