94 150 Fast Strike Head gasket or sealant?

Torn the motor down a while back, and was careful to inspect and torque, but cant remember if there was a gasket or sealer or either one. Now, I am leaking a drop mostly on the strbd bank. The drip is coming from the side that is closest to the head, not the side closest to the plugs. Advise?

    94 Johnson 150 Fast Strike

So, I was having problems earlier that prevented the engine from exceeding 2500 rpms. After changing a coil, power pack, and checking all the normal things, (sensors, et.) It was running around 5500 rpms, but was idling too fast. So I loosened the +- screw holding the tabs down on the flywheel...

Engine wont go over 2500-3000 RPMS. 94 jOHNS 150 Fast Strike

So, all of the sudden, (after I recently changed the oil tank, plugs, new "gray" wires.) Took it out (double oiled, just in case) Ran great all day! Then, a couple of weeks later, I replaced all 6 leaky carb bowls. Yes, I bled the oil line. Every once in a while, over the years, I would get a...

7.4L Gen V. lower hose clearence issue

Kind of an odd issue. Two identical (96 vintage) 7.4 gen V's side by side, fresh rebuilt couple months ago. (yes, reassembled by yours truly), Starboard engine, Pulley on water/fuel pump touches, just barely, but can touch, the lower 1.5" engine recirc hose. Port side, about a 1/4"~1/2"...

Weird alternator reading on the gauge

On my port engine, the alternator gauge dances around at certain RPMs. The slower the higher the voltage, the faster the RMS, the dancing begins, then lower reading. Could be something as simple as the two smaller wires on the alternator (not the +12 orange, and not the gnd.) being swapped? I...

    Coil arcing

Just repowered a 96 454, gen V. Runs very good, but noticed that the coil is arcing from the tower area every once in a while to either terminal or whatever is nearby. Don't see any cracks. Bad coil? Bad coil wire?

Disaster has struck! Give me your opinions!

So, repowering 96 Maxum 3200SCR (big boat!) Both blocks (7.4L Gen V's 4BBL) froze and broke, bought it that way. No PO info available. Drives (Bravo III's) Removed the drives, cleaned the surfaces, painted etc. Rebuilt (completely) both gimbal housings. U-joints looked/felt fine. Greased all...

    Bravo Drive Bellow installation

How far in should the bellow go into the bell housing with the aluminum sleeve? (see crude drawing) If I try to put the bellow on the B ridge, there's no way that aluminum sleeve will fit inside the rubber. (yes, I have the proper tool!) But if i bring the bellow out to the notch A, I can tap...

    Installation of seacock question

On most installations, I've ever seen, There is a square piece of plywood sandwiched between the seacock and the hull. It only serves as to create a larger flat surface to aid in the base of the valve. My question is, can I use a piece of starboard material, instead of plywood? The stiffness...

    Don S memories live on

For any of you that watch the TV series on Discovery, "Alaskan Bush Family", you will hear "Ketchikan Alaska", many times throughout the episodes. This is where our buddy Don S. ran his boat repair shop. I can see him, in my mind, running down to those docks, cursing all the operators that...
