    Mercruiser 165 lower unit weeping oil

    The temps are now around 5 or 10 and I noticed my lower unit weeping lube out the small hole on the starboard side of the lower unit. Is this a internal crack or seal issue?

    Merc 165 Head Swap Help

    I have two Merc 165 heads and both are cracked. One on the side of the combustion chamber and one through the valve seat. Can I put an automotive style 250 or 292 head with out the integrated manifold, or is the combustion chamber different?

    Inside a Mercruiser 165 Manifold

    My manifold is bad. I cut it open to see how it is made. I am reasonably confidet I can recreate this manifold at work in mild steel, then rework in stainless. I will also reverse flow and baffle to fix the cracking issue. I am also cutting some weight. I will post pics on my progress.
