    Stereo system suggestions

1994 Monterey 206SCR bowrider, no tower installed, just a plain old bowrider. Currently has a Clarion hu with a seperate 6 disc changer and a wired remote and 4 speakers (two down low in the bow, two midway back in the cabin), no external amp. It was a decent system 14 years ago when I put it...

Outdrive was off about 2 weeks ago. Had all new gaskets, hoses and bellows. Need to pull it off to reinstall the exhaust bellows. Will the gaskets and o rings be fresh enough to reuse?

    Exhaust bellows clamp question

Ok, I lost the speedometer after a bellows change. Upon inspection I found that the new screw style clamp cut the speedo hose when the drive was lowered. So I attempted to loosen the screw clamp to turn it and the bellows popped off of the outer/bell housing end. so now im going to reinstall...

    Generic prop question.

Going from a 14.5/19p aluminium to a 14.5/21 SS prop what kind of decrease in wot can I expect? I know rpm drops 200 per inch of increased pitch but what effect does changing prop material have? My cars memory wants me to believe that an Al to SS is good for another 50 drop. Yes, no, maybe?

Speedometer not working after outdrive replacement.

History; Water in out drive ruined gears. Shop located a used drive and installed it. Also had the bellows and water lines replaced while the drive was off. Speedo worked before repairs made and was even reasonably accurate when compared to GPS. On my test run everything seems to be working well...

    Another outdrive ratio question.

My boat; '94 21' BR, 5.0l (200HP), A1/G2, 19p SS prop @ about 4600RPM with a top speed of 48-52MPH depending on load and water condition. I got water in the drive and ruined the gears. Having to replace it. Don't have the cash for a new SEI so the mechanic went shopping for a used drive. What...

    Block drain question

Looking to make draining my block for winterization easier in the future. My '94 5.0 currently has brass plugs inside brass reducers in the sides of the block. I'm considering removing both the plugs and reducers and replacing them with brass petcocks. Is there any reason not to make this...

    Exhaust manifold bolts?

So, the new manifolds came today. They came with gaskets, new plugs, new bolts and, oddly, split style lock washers. Now, the old bolts did not have lock washers nor does my manual (#17) show or mention lock washers. Further, I don't recall ever using lock washers on exhaust manifold bolts...

    305 exhaust manifold install question.

Replacing cracked exhaust manifolds on my 94 305/alpha gen 1. When torquing the bolts is there a patern to follow and should they be torqued tp manual specs in one go or stepped. Like going to 15 ft lbs first then to the recommended 25 ft lbs? I kknow that I need to recheck the torque after the...

'94 Monterey 206SCR 5.0L / Alpha I, Gen II , Engine SN OF157289, Drive SN OF317617 Time to change the alternator belt so I'm going to replace the P.S. belt at the same time since it has to come off anyway. Today I took the numbers for both belts directly off the belts. The numbers are; Alt...

    Engine starting

1994 Mercury 5.0 Chevy engine, carbed, thunderbolt ignition. Sorry, I don't have the serial number (the boat's at the lake house). A quick background; Boat sat for 18 months or so w/ 1/2 tank of gas. I cannot remember if I treated the fuel before it sat. Recently pulled boat home and set about...

    New to Slalom skiing

Re: New to Slalom skiing I prefer to start off on the slalom ski, I also prefer to do it with both feet in the bindings. My father tried to teach me to slalom by dropping a ski and I never got the hang of it. He also said to start by dragging a foot from a deep water start and I never figured...
