    evinrude 48 tilt manual lift assist cylinder locked down?

    i read were these give lots of trouble, but i dont know if i want to spend 600$ on a power trim. what else can be done. we bought a cable thinking it was that, (it locked down and wont release and cant get it up.) we took lift assist cylinder off and its siezed up in the cylinder or something...

    gasket/seal compound?? i am installing new seals in lower unit.

    i am installing new seals in lower unit on a evinrude 48 slp 1988, i seen alot of guys on the internet use a seal compound made by evinrude. i have the bearing carrier out right now and havent put in seals yet because i see some small pitting and a few little scratches. this is no big deal...

    1988 evinrude 48 spl lower unit seal?

    i bought a boat that has the evinrude 48 spl on it. noticed the lower case looked like it had a little oozz of oil coming out underneith the prop. didnt look like it was from engine exhaust, was kinda grey in color. and somewhat thicker. but anyway i figured it was coming out the seal...
