    Folks, I have a gray wire out of the shifter, my tach has two wires. Where do the wires form the tach go to? I assume one goes to the gray but the other??

    I have a 90 HP Merc 90ELPTO and it has new wiring to the controls. I see the gray wire but my "old tach" only has two wires. Anyone know how to wire up the old tach to this new harness and new (to me) outboard?

    hard starting 100HP 1970 Johnson Outboard

    I replaced the fuel pump and EVERYTHING back to the fuel tank. Added a water seperator and inline gas filter. Motor very hard to start, starter good. When it tries to start it backfires, sometimes it does start and runs for a few seconds, then dies.. Anybody want to comment?
