Check out the Scotty products .... they make downriggers for small boats, manual and electric, and you can make tight turns with downriggers If I can do it with four downriggers and 8 rods you can do it in a tinny with 2

the torque of a volvo diesel will blow an alpha drive to pieces, need at least a bravo but you might as well buy a volvo DPH drive then you might as well buy a complete volvo package

I repowered my 2860 Trophy with a diesel. One thing you didnt add in your calculation QC was speed. I went from 17mph to 40 mph with my conversion which means less than 1/2 the time to go the same distance.
