    Re: 1971 Thunderbolt 500 Lower Unit Stuck on Exhaust the shift linkage is separated at the splines, the water tube is not hung up at all it also separated, the only thing that looks like is holding it there is the exhaust pipe this is what it looks like if that helps.

    1971 Thunderbolt 500 Lower Unit Stuck on Exhaust

    I have a 1971 Thunderbolt 50hp I just got and I want to replace the impeller I have removed all the bolts from the lower. I went to take it off and it dropped down about 5 inches and stopped it looks like my exhaust is holding it up. Any advise I really don't want to brake anything.
