started up my merc this year to having a very poor amount of water coming out of the water pee whole. so i rebuilt the water pump with all new parts took it to the lake and had the same problem when at idle. at high rpm was fine, but idle was no water coming out. so i took the pump apart again...

i did some research. the reed getting sucked into the cylinder is the only resonable thing that could of happened i believe. here is a couple pictures of the plug which in normal... and also the plug hole.
