    Two 9.5s only run on top cylinder

    I have two Johnson 9.5 and both will only run on the top cylinder. I checked compression and all four cylinders are the same. I swapped plugs, coils, set the points, etc. The plugs fire when I hold them to the frame and pull the cord. What am I missing?

    30hp very loud after changing lower unit

    I replaced the trashed lower unit on my 30hp with a used one. Everything seemed to go fine and the motor runs and pumps water but it now is very loud. Seems to me the old unit had underwater exhaust and this one does not. Am I missing something?

    No bottom end power in M40C tohatsu

    I just bought a '95 M40C. It runs fine on top and is faster than my 35hp Johnson was. However it has so little bottom end that it stalls when I shift into gear. I had to detach the block so I could get it to start in gear and then use starting fluid to get it going with the throttle revved...

    '76 johnson 35 hp exhaust leak worth fixing?

    I have a 35hp johnson that runs strong....with the hood off. It is leaking exhaust and water under the carb where the powerhead meets the frame. It also has become quite difficult to shift. I can live with the shifting problem by leaving it in forward. Running with the hood off is too loud...

    no turn signals while braking?

    I have a flat four system wired through my existing wires. When I brake while signaling the trailer lights go solid with no flash. If I let off the brake they return to flashing. How do I get the turn signal to take priority over the brake signal?

    '76 35hp vs '92 30 hp

    Should these motors have exactly the same power? My '76 seems a lot more powerful. Both motors have 11 pitch props. I took off the carbs and looked at the jets. Both looked the same. Are they the same size?

    motor in the water for 35 days then started, now what?

    I recovered my '76 Johnson 35 from the water yesterday. After draining the water and cycling some oil through it it started and ran pretty good. Any ideas on what I should do for it now? I am thinking new plugs, a carb kit, and perhaps points. It has some rust on the flywheel and coils.

    speed loss for longshaft motor on short transom?

    Through observation and measurement I have come to realize the previous owner placed a longshaft 35 hp johnson on my 16 ft seaking with a short transom. How much speed do you think I am sacrificing with this setup? Is it worth the $120 for an extender? I am thinking if I get 2 mph gain I will...
