    1988 20 hp evinrude shift rod/empeller housing problem

    I have an 88 model 20 hp evinrude motor that i'm changing the empeller housing on. The shift rod does not seem to have a disconnect link. How does the bushing, and threaded part come off the end of the shift rod ????
