    Crankcase sealant 1958 johnson 10

I rebuilt my grandfathers 1958 Johnson Seahorse 10 a few years ago. It's been a great fishing motor so far...except for the gas leaking from the crank case. There was a very minor leak after using it for a year at the end of last season. So I took it apart, inspected the parts for cracks...

    fuel line hose clamps

What do you guys use for hose clamps? I'd like to put something back on my 1958 10 horse that looks more original. I don't know where to start. I've gotten away with those stainless steel worm screw clamps but they're ugly. Any suggestions?

    1958 Johnson QD-19

I haven't posted on here in a long time. Partly due to all of you kind folk on this forum. I got my grand fathers Johnson running and out on the lake many many times now because of all of the useful advice I found on this forum. I thank all of you! But as you can see....I'm back. I'm...

Spun prop hub qd-19 Johonson seahorse

I FINALLY got my vintage outboard on a lake, made a few good passes with it. It ran awesome. It was absolutely PERFECT.....until the prop hit a rock and spun the hub. :( I know for a fact that the lower unit is fine. The hub did its job. (thank god) I don't know where I can find a prop for this...

    1950's Tomahawk

I'm driving to take a look at this boat in a week or so...the seller wants 325 the 35 hp evinrude lark runs. I know its missing its windshield and seats. It looks like a very neat boat worth saving. But is 325 a good price (provided there are no cracks in the hull) Any advice would be greatly...

    Title question Illinois

I found a boat in Wisconsin that I would like to restore. Its a 1957 whitehouse with a 1957 Johnson 35hp Javelin. It's in pretty good shape, but I'm so confused as to how to get the paper work in order. I don't want to drop cash on this get it to Illinois and not be able to register it. It's a...

    Pressure tank connector

I recently aquired a free pressure tank. The tank is shot but everything else was in okay condition. The prized female connector was full of mud on one side. I got it pretty clean but it still feels like there is some build up in there. I read a blurb in here about how you can knock these...

    lower unit rebuild

I just got done replacing all my seals and I'm now trying to get the skeg all bolted up. Things will not align properly to allow the skeg to mate with the other surface. Looking at my parts diagram, it seems that I don't have the spring that rests against the shift rod. I found one in my scrap...

    Johnson service manual

I have a 1958 Johnson Seahorse 10 that I've been working on. My service manual is probably from the late 60's early 70's and it seems it covers every motor BUT MINE. Mainly I'm looking for the little tricks it takes to get the lower unit apart. Basically its of absolutely no help. I was...

    1958 Johnson 10 skeg removal

All the required screws are out, but the skeg will not let go. I tried lightly tapping it, hitting it with a rubber mallet, nothing seems to work. This is the first time it's been removed. Ever. Any tricks?

    QD-19 lower unit

I recently completed a 4 year project. Getting my Grandfathers old outboard running again! It took lots and lots of parts hunting but she runs, and runs GREAT! My problem now is the lower unit is getting water sucked in. I figure if I can successfully rebuild the engine; I should be able to...
