    1986 Mercury 150 V6 worth?

I think sometimes that means it only worth what someone who wants it can afford to pay, and lately I think that's gotten pretty low. Nothing seems to sell to local buyers, its always someone from 100 miles or more away. Local ads don't get any replies here.

    1986 Mercury 150 V6 worth?

Both are gone, a guy came from I think MD who wanted only the lower units, he looked at both motors, checked the lower oil, and told me if they came off and weren't stuck, he'll give me $500 each. I asked if he wanted any more, as I had three more behind the garage that were 'parts' motors, and...

    1986 Mercury 150 V6 worth?

I recently inherited a few larger outboards that are of no use to me but appear to be in super clean condition and have perfect compression. Both need props and likely new impellers but otherwise are likely good motors. Both are mid 80's era 150 V6 Mercury motors with the clam shell type hoods...

    100+ outboards

I'm seeing pretty much the same around here but lately used outboards are scarce, especially the more in-demand sizes. 9.9 and 15hp, 40/50hp, 115, and 150hp motors are all but gone from the local listings. Two strokes are the norm, I see very few smaller four stroke motors, most are just too...

Where is the lowest prices for new outboard engines?

I've got both a 1993, and a 1999 Starcraft SF14, both are short transoms with a 40hp rating. I run an older 35hp Johnson on the one, and a newer 9.9hp Mercury four stroke on the other. Both are open hull tiller type boats. I just looked into repowering my one boat with a new motor after...

Where did all the used boats and motors go?

I talked to the owner of a small boat and motor dealer where I used to live, they were always an OMC dealer, and now have been searching for a replacement franchise. They have Honda, but he tells me they're too pricey for the average buyer there, with many opting to buy boats without motors. He...

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

The newer boats are quite different, it was the early 80's to mid 90's stuff that made for horror stories if anyone kept it beyond the first year or two. They were cheap boats marketed to first time owners and most first time owners don't usually take very good care of their boats either which...

Where did all the used boats and motors go?

Aluminum boats have always been hard to find here, most people get hold of one and keep it till they die. I have two favorites here with no plans of ever parting with either one, I've had my 16ft for 9 years, and my 14ft for 22. Larger boats are out of favor because gas is going up.

Where did all the used boats and motors go?

I just priced a new G3 18ft with a 40 Yamaha brand new for $12k Four in stock. They had five 16ft v hulls with seats , floor, rod holders, etc, with a 25 yamaha and a trailer for $15k Both way out of my budget. Three didn't seem to be a shortage of boats, nor motors. another place had stacks of...

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

I owned two I/O boats in my life, the first and early OMC in a Johnson boat, the second a Mercruiser in an 70's trihull. The OMC was the better set up, that Mercruiser was more trouble than it was worth. Leaking shift cables, leaking or cracked bellows, poor engine choices,. A buddy had a 1989...

    1961 Starcraft Seafarer Concerns?

Nothing to speak off other than looking for missing rivets or cracks from past abuse. I've had a dozen or more older Seafarers and none ever leaked a drop. I had a 35hp on my '63, and a 25hp on my '70 14ft. I did have to repace the wood seats in both after a while though and i did so with some...

    Info on alumacraft

I had a very similar boat some years ago, mine was a Sears, but I believe it was built by Alumacraft. I ran a 1971 9.8hp Mercury on it for a bit, then a 1957 18hp Johnson, then we got stupid one weekend and stuck a 40hp Gale on it for fun. The fact that the hull survived is what amazed me most...

2006 Honda 9.9 Stalls in Gear in Idle

I had a slightly older Honda 9.9 a few years ago that would run about a minute and half then shut off. I'd pull the cover, tinker with the carb and it would fire up again. The idle was low, and a bit unstable. It took me a while to realize it only ran bad with the cover on it. If I pulled the...

    Used 40hp two stroke value?

He's towing it to a larger dealer who said they'd look at it today. It wouldn't start at first this morning, it just cranked. He said he gave it a try right before hooking up the trailer and it fired right up like nothing was wrong, but it died abruptly and wouldn't start after that. The first...

    Used 40hp two stroke value?

I guess its sort of a coincidence but I just got back from towing in a neighbors boat with a two year old Mercury 60hp EFI four stroke. He spent $9k to have his 1999 boat repowered at the end of the 2019 season. It sat most of last year but got used a bit in November with no real issues other...

    Used 40hp two stroke value?

I guess I'm a little late to this conversation but I'm seeing the same thing around here, guys who went to small four strokes are turning back to older two strokes when the four stroke breaks down. I'm not sure if its the cost of parts or complexity of them but they don't seem to fix them...

Near new old 1996 Mercury 115

While this isn't really the same thing, I was out on a local river fishing a couple of days ago with a super clean older Mercury 400 (40hp twin), on the back of an old Starcraft SS I picked up last fall for cheap. I was anchored up with some lines out and had a guy motor up to me and ask how my...

    Trailer Tires

All of my boats are aluminum, so there's not a lot of weight. I tried Kenda Load Stars but was getting bad dry rot after only a couple seasons. I didn't have any blow out but a few looked pretty bad. I gave up and started buying LT or just car radials where I could The last pair of 13" Radials...

Near new old 1996 Mercury 115

If your running an older boat, you need a two stroke, I have a Starcraft with a 40hp max, if I hung a 40hp 4 stroke I'd be too heavy in the stern, maybe to the point of being unsafe, and I'd be down on power vs. my current 1989 OMC 40hp twin. Finding clean older 2 strokes near the coast is...

What model is this? (Grumman 10ft)

Might anyone know what model this is and when it was made? Its about 10ft long, has a wooden keel, and four oar locks. The rear tag says grumman but I can't make out any of the numbers or writing other than it was made in Marathon, NY.
