Help! Mercury MC-1 trim stuck up, but moves down.

I have a 1975 MERCRUISER 120 hp with an alpha drive. I have the MC-1 style trim cylinders with the full screw on cap. It used to drift down all the time, so last winter I had strapped it in the up position for storage. Bad choice! It now does not drift down, nor does it trim down. When I trim it...

What can I do to remove my outdrive for winter?

I have my boat in for winter. I want to remove the outdrive from it. It's a brand new SE drive. The boat is a 1975 Mercruiser 140 I/O. Right now it will be under 4ft of snow all winter, and a block of ice come spring. What should I do to protect my gimble bearing, and my bellows??

Crooked boat. Leans to the left

My boat has a lean to it. I weigh about 240, my boy about 210. The boat leans to his side. Now the only thing off balance in that direction is the gas tank is on that side. But that doesn't seam right...My weight should offset that, and the battery is opposite of the gas tank too.... When we...

will this exhaust manifold work for me?

I have a 1975 Mercruiser 140hp I/O. My exhaust manifold is cracked. Will a exhaust manifold from a 1984 Mercruiser 140hp I/O work on my engine? Also, if not, Is it possible for me to weld up my manifold at a weld shop that welds cast, and be successful? Or should I try to find a good used one...

Help me determine what went wromg on my engine!

I have a 1975 Mercruiser 140 I/O that has no compression in one cylinder. I turned it over with the valve cover off, and I can see the valves moving. How can I determine what is wrong? I want to know if it's in the head or the block. I would I determine if it'd the valve or the rings? The...

    I have a 1975 Merc140hp Looking into swapping in a 120hp?

I have a 1975 Merc 140hp I/O engine. My engine lost compression in a cylinder. I started trying to find another engine for it. It seems all I can locate around here are 120hp merc I/O's. Is it a direct swap for the 120? Would I notice a whole lot of difference? I am more using my boat for...

    Hydrofoil, needed or not?

I have a 1975 Mercruiser 140 17' boat. I just replaced my whole drive unit with a SEI SE106 drive. I have yet to try it out. My old outdrive had a hydrofoil installed on it. It will not go onto my SEI drive because the fins it mounts on are thicker on the SEI drive than it was on mine. Do I...

Gimbal Ring up and down movement.

I have a 1975 Mercruiser 140 I am working on. I was wondering on the Gimbal Ring if it should have any up and down movement. There are the two pins, the upper and lower pin that allow it to pivot side to side. Should the gimbal be able to be lifted up and down on these pins?

I am working on a 1975 Mercruiser 140hp Stern Drive. I am replacing the U-joint Bellow. From what I've been reading about from searching the forum is that there is a locking ring on the bellow.
