Well I thought I had this solved last summer.
I replaced both the up and down solenoids and that seems to solve the problem of the tilt not working at times.
This year after taking the boat of of storage the tilt would not work at all.
Both up and down clicked but no movement,even when jumped at...
I did do a search on this topic ,but they were posts that did not work at all.
My tilt works at times if I push up and down five to ten times.
It clicks as if the relays are working.
Does this sound like bad relays? I think the motor is ok as once it starts if runs fine untill
you stop and...
Would think there is a problem with the High speed,but this has a fixed high speed.
Took carb all apart again, all clean, all open offorices.
Engine starts, low speed set about 1 1/2 out.
If lever is pushed to fast engine dies,tried adjusting low speed no change.
Had running the other day,now...
Picked up a 67 3hp evinrude.
Can get it run run somewhat with the choke on.
Went thru the carb,and it looks like it was rebuilt not long ago.
Found nothing wrong,coils points cond. look to be brand new.
No history with it as it was from an estate.
Anyone know what the compression should be on...
I would like to use a steel OMC tank on a mercury as a spare.
The fuel line connection is not a problem as that can be changed.
I noticed that the fuel cap does not have a screw vent as all Mercurys seem to have.
Will this be a problem?

I am installing all new seals in a 1967 4.5 merc lower unit.
I think whoever was in there before may have installed the seals the wrong way.
For example the one one the top of the water pump was installed with the metal side down,looking at the parts diagram it
looks like it should be metal...
I replaced the impeller on a 1969 Merc 7.5hp
Had a hard time reattaching the lower unit,anyway long story short
pumps fine ,but reverse is forward and forward is reverse.
Can this be fixed without dropping the lower unit again? :confused:

I have been searching the forum in regards to this tank.
The main concern seems to be with the o rings on the connector that
connects to the motor.
Is there any other thing that should be adderessed for this tank to work
correctly?

Anyone know the order of the spacer,spring, o ring,washer that goes on
the driveshaft where it connects to the power head.
