94 225 venom.Mod#J225stlerc. Just bought boat/motor. River tested boat and all ok.Compression on his gauge 100-105 on all. Came home and decarbed motor/changed plugs/foot oil. Compression is 100/90/90port and 100/90/90 star.Motor runs/starts fine.Is this ok?Motor is on 20 mako.
I have an opportunity to buy a 1979 204c refurbished 2 years ago with blown motor for 3000.00.It has a 150 evinrude at present which looks a little small for the size of the boat.Has anyone had this combo and how did it perform?I have a 2.4l merc which I could carb up to a 200,would this work...
Gear oil leaking at prop/case. Pressure tested and prop seal is leaking pretty good. No signs of leak anywhere else. Do i have to pull carrier or can i just replace the outer seal.1984 150hp v6 merc serial #06296484.My service manual is pretty vague on prop seals. Thanks in advance.
1984 merc V6 installed temp gauge runs 3/4 on gauge at idle. Once on plane slowly moves to hot shut down motor before buzzer goes off. New w/p kit including housing,new pickup tube runs 12-15 psi at wot pressure.Compression good,135-140 all cyl.Good spark timing set dead on,Any ideas/suggestions...
1984 Mercury s/n6296484 V6 150. Pulled foot and found pickup tube end not round. Want to replace tube which is 5/8 copper(HVAC guy i have plenty)just not sure what length to cut it since I mangled the old piuece getting it out.<br /> :mad:

Saw where someone used rustoleum for bottom paint.Boat is trailered and they have the color I want to use. was this the topside paint? BTW Crack in keel came out great! Thanks to all. :)

Looking for info on deck plate/access sizes. Everthing I see is 4,6,8, inches mine are 5.5 inches across. The old plates were made by viking marine in Calif. which seems to be out of business. The boat is a '89 Sunbird 173.Any one know where I can get this size plate? New floors/paint really...
What grade of sandpaper should i use between primer coats.Using interlux brightside primer sprayed on.Body work came out good just need to scuff I guess.Been all over interlux's site and can't find any info.First time boat painter btw
I am looking for ideas on how to sand/scuff the floor of my boat.The floor has small pyramid shaped texture. I don't want to sand smooth just want to scuff so primer will stick.The boat is fiberglass/gelcoated.Would steel wool provide enough sanding to allow primer to stick?
