The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Last year, the starter on my 85hp Force began operating sluggishly, turning the engine over very slowly. I thought it might have been a battery problem, so I replaced the battery and cleaned all the terminals...no joy.
I then went out and bought a new starter, and problem solved....for a short...
I realize this isn't quite an engine issue, but I'm not sure other forum to post this to.
My problem is this : The control cables on my 1983 Capri are cracked & weathered, allowing water to seep in and immobilizing the cable and controls.
Now there are two cables to be replace....yet the parts...

Ahhhhhh...some success !
Turns out the Idle mixture screws WERE out-of-whack to compensate for the sticking check valves. Two by at least 1/4 turn, one by over 1/2 turn. I adjusted all three to 1 turn out, hit the key (not even choked) and started right up and idled...

Well, it I got the carbs off the motor & taken apart. It looks like I will need a gasket set at the least for each of the three carburetors.
The top carb had no gas at all in the bowl, and it looks like the bowl gasket was mis-aligned before and mashed the gasket...
I just bought a '83 Bowrider Capri in pretty nice shape, along with an 85 hp Chrysler Force engine...a hellova deal on both.
When I got the boat, it had a full tank of gas, but it just didn't have the strong smell of gas, so I replaced the gas in the tank, then drained the bowls on all three...
