Why would a '65 18 HP FD-19 backfire trying to start it?

Re: Why would a '65 18 HP FD-19 backfire trying to start it? Sweet the Go Advanced suggestion worked! I deleted the rig pics off my phone when I saved em on the puter. I'll get some more tomorrow so I don't have to fool with going through iTunes and saving em back on the phone. I'll get em up...

Why would a '65 18 HP FD-19 backfire trying to start it?

I have another (older) thread on this motor and instead of adding a different, but similar topic of discussion thought it'd be best to start a new thread. I've rebuilt the carb with a kit minus the float bowl. The coils each ohm at 4.69, points have plenty of padding on them and gapped at .020...

    Qustion on powerhead swap options

Have a '65 Johnson FD-19 here. I assume a 20 would, but will a 25 horse of the same era bolt in the 18 hp's place? Thanks in advance for any insight gents.

    1992 15hp Johnson RENM

Happy Easter folks. I have a question regarding a hole in the lower unit of a 15hp Johnson. Mercury outboard serial number lookup

My Uncle has a lead on a Mercury outboard and only has the serial number. I've been looking all morning to no avail. He thinks its either a 7.5 or 9.8. If anyone has a link or info to help me out I'd kindly appreciate your efforts and time. The serial number he was given is 5801189.

New to me old Johnson outboard

Re: New to me old Johnson outboard Now upon a better look the number that's stamped seems to be J2405234. There is a scratch on the plug that led me to believe initially it was a B.

New to me old Johnson outboard

I just purchased a Johnson outboard off of Craigslist for $125 (: There is no indication of horsepower on the cowl. I used marineengine.com and can't find the serial number listed on their list. The plate on the transom clamp isn't there either. I've had previous success finding similar info on...
