    No spark when warm

5.7 Mercruiser. Starts fine cold. No spark after it warms up. New coil, new cap, rotor. It will run as long as I leave it running (does not die on own), but as soon as I turn the key off, no restart, no spark from coil. So my question is, what other safety or otherwise switches are downstream...

Alum fuel tank corrosion....replace? repairable? Internal pictures!

195 gallon alum fuel tank in a Boston Whaler. Contamination clogging filters / engine. Check out the pictures and tell me what you think. Can this tank be salvaged (cleaned out, put back into use)? Or should it be replaced? Well, sure, I guess replace is the easy answer, and so be it if it is...

Water (steam) coming from crankcase vent hose

350 Mercruiser 5.7 So I admittingly got lazy (never again!) and didn't store my boat last winter as well as I should have (1/2 tank of gas, minimal stabil). So I'm pretty much running for the first time in awhile, and I'm getting steam, definitally moisture, blowing out my crankcase vents into...

Could this mean I have water in my fuel?

350 5.7 Mercruiser, 24' Trophy Boat starts fine at dock. Instantly and easily. I take it out for a run, even short runs, turn it off and it won't start. It has to sit for awhile, sometimes a long while, and then fires right up again. Several at the dock think I have water in my fuel. It...

Power to harness until I plug trailer in

I have power to my 4 pin harness on the towing vehicle, plug trailer into it and then lose it. Trailer lights work fine with other vehicles so that is eliminated. Ground on this vehicle seems fine. It has one of those Modulite converters on vehicle, am thinking that is the problem unless someone...

    New (different) carb?

I'm having carb issues with my 1993 Weber 4 bbl on my 350 5.7 Merc. Question is, instead of sending it out for a rebuild, am I better off getting a new (more modern) one? Are newer (as in more modern, not neccesarily "new") ones better, more efficient, etc.? Or am I limited to what I have due to...

    carb adjustment

5.7 Merc / Weber 4 bbl A friend "rebuilt" my carb so I put it back on and went to make the idle / mixture adjustments. Turned both screws out to 2 1/2 to start, warmed up engine, put in gear at idle. Book says to turn screws in until it bogs, turn out until it does same, and set in the middle...

Cranked engine with vents plugged. OK ???

Been working on the engine (350 merc) and was careful to tape all the openings as I went. Got it all back together and tried to start it with carb open (no spark arrestor / vent tubes into the rocker arm covers). Noticed oil coming out of the dip tube, obviously something was wrong, and stopped...

    Engine-outdrive alignment tool doesn't fit???

My ex-certified mercruiser mechanic friend let me borrow his alignment tool. It doesn't fit! A first for him he says. 1993 350 5.7 Merc / alpha one. I mic'ed the ID of my coupling and got 1.300 inches. Mic'ed the shaft of the tool and got 1.375. Outdrive shaft mic'es out at 1.275. So, what's up...

    US engine repower

Anybody done business with this company? http://www.usengine.us/mercruiser.html?gclid=CPnT_JqhlpoCFQOjFQod8zmsMg If so, any good / bad experiences to share? I am looking for something to repower my '93 350/5.7 merc (260 hp). Do any experts on this board have any comments on their "sell"? They...

    Flywheel Area

Is it possible for something to get into the flywheel enclosure area? 1993 5.7 Mercruiser. Engine is "tight", starter sometimes turns the flywheel, then almost seems to catch and have problems. Flywheel of course entirely surrounded by "shroud", can only see teeth when I pull the starter. Lot's...
