    60hp merc stator problem??

    started off thinkin switch box maybe bad now that i think that i have checked the stator right im thinkin it is bad...... disconnected the blue and red wires off the stator tried to ohm them out not getting anything at rest or tryin to start...... could this be my problem or is there more??

    ok here is how it all started jus bought the boat and was puttin trollin motor on it wasnt thinkin about it but previous owner had wirin harnes grounded to the boat i messed up and let the hot wire ground to the boat and it smoked about 5 wires in the harnes but didnt blow the main engine...
