    I just rebuilt LU and a lot of other things. It runs fine in the tank, but first boat test shows this issue. I do see this bolt (see pic) that looks like gear shift adjustment, but want to make sure I do not mess up anything. Ooops! looks like picture can not be loaded to this site.

    Hello, I have 1972 9.5 HP Johnson (9R72M). It has issue on high speed when forward gear disengages. I think it needs adjustment for shift rod. This is my first motor of this "cumbersome" design and I do not have original manual. Can someone advise on how properly to do that? Thanks in advance.

    I had a bunch of 2 stroke motors from 1.5 to 85 HP and know what you are talking about, but with this particular motor it is much, much more. And this is first 9.5 HP I got, so I can not really compare with the same type motor.

    After soaking this thing for a month I grinded slide hummer adaptor to fit very tightly to the end of the shaft and it worked!. See pics.

    I was thinking about drilling before, like the hole and SS pin at the end of driveshaft on older 6 HP OMC motors to push head seal, but then dropped the idea scared to weaken\ruin driveshaft. Anyway , I will soak it for week or two while coming up with the way to pull.
