The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
It looks like the oldest one is May 23rd, 2000. Is this when iBoats started?
A couple old threads were revived tonight and one dated back to 2003. :D:D
I just picked up this motor today. Looks like death and was stuck when I got it. I saw the factory electric starter and electric choke and I thought: "heck yeah" THe starter and the choke works. I pulled the head right away and luckily all the bolts came out, without hassle. Even the...
I picked up a nice little CD-12 yesterday for a whopping $70 and turned out to be a pretty nice catch. The coils look great, the lower unit is sealed good and the paint doesn't look half bad. I just cleaned to points and replaced the coil wires and called it good. This makes my third CD-12...
Here are some updates of the current restoration project I have. This is a 1941 Johnson HD-20 I started a while back. This baby is all new inside the powerhead. I still have a little machine work modifications to have done to the lower unit, then I can paint it and get it assembled.
I picked this up last weekend. Pretty nice little classic. It must have been in storage for about 30 years, because the gas in it, was about as rotten as it gets. LOL I cleaned the carb out a bit and put fresh gas in it and it actually ran. The coils are shot, but at least I found out that new...
I'm curious about a seal size that is used in the old Mark 30 or Mark 25 shift rod shaft, that goes into the lower unit. Isn't this a 3/8" shaft size? If someone has a knowledge about this, I would greatly appreciate the seal size that goes where that shaft goes into the lower unit.
So, this weekend, I went on a couple ventures for some oldies.....again. :D I kinda dubbed the pair as "Beauty and the Beast" Looking at the pictures below, you can see what I mean. Sadly enough, the Lark didn't turn out to be as good as I liked, but there are a lot of good usable parts on...
Did the '57 Lark ever come with a factory fuel pump? I don't believe they did, but I bought one today with a fuel pump on it and a pretty nice factory looking job too. My guess is it's from a later style motor, because it is the later style pump. It's not like the pump used on the 59 and 60...
Just got this little JW in on a trade from one of our fellow members. It's a nice running little motor. I completely went through the ignition system, with new coils and new spark plug leads. The points and condensors looked good enough to put back into service, so I just cleaned this little...
So, who is a good parts source for the Tanaka motors. I have a little 1hp TAS motor that needs starter pawls. Out of all my motors, this is really the only one I can't yank the rope and get to run. Thanks for the help.
Well, I just recently acquired a 1965 Yachtwin on a trade, so today, I tackled the ignition system on it and royally cleaned it up. I even pulled the transom clamp assembly all apart and cleaned out all the old grease and packed it with new. Once I got it back together, it fired right up. I...
Hello all, I just recently purchased a new gearcase housing for my '59 Johnson RDSL-21b and it has a different watertube configuration than what my original had. After looking at the configuration on a 1970 model, it looks to be a close match.
Below, are two watertube holes in the gearcase...
So, while I was surfing around Craigslist a couple days ago, I found this. I'm thinkin' "Hell yeah" exactly what I need and it's a nice new tool for my outboard motor tinkering. It's capable of handling a 150hp Merc, so it'll handle my needs really well. I just hung a 40hp Johnson on it and it...
Das Boot, are the words I found on the transome, when I bought this jewel. This is my $100 investment. It had a 1964 Johnson 40 on it, but it was just a plain old RD-26 (no electric start) so I put this 1958 Lark on it and it looks like a nice match. This is one of the three Larks that I...
Well, I got 'er done. I went through the lower unit and re-sealed it, installed a new waterpump and put new coils in. I gave it a few pulls and it sputtered. So I figure it should start, as soon as I put it in the barrel. It's amazing how good of condition this motor was, when I tore...
Well, I bought this little '58 Evinrude Fisherman last year with a tank, for the tune of $40. The guy I bought it from told me that he was out running it one day and it locked up. I figured....okay, a blown rod and a crank. No biggie. I can replace that and have a nice little Fisherman...
