The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Recently rebuilt VRO2 due to engine starving. Found the gasket was torn. replaced fuel line etc. Accidentally put blue pulse in backwards but fixed that. Still is being starved of fuel. Took off pulse limiter hose from bottom of air box to feel for pulsating air from block... there was. Noticed...
Getting a 98 proline 251 which says it has a 17" draft. Trying to research "draft" it seems like that is the depth that the boat will be in the water...so only 17". What do they mean by 17" draft??
Thanks
Joe

Wanting to buy a 1998 proline 251 which is 27 ft 4250 hull weight...150gallon gas tank...not sure trailer weight -- i/o 5.7 merc v8 250. Will I be able to tow with my Lincoln Aviator which says I can tow up to 7100lbs...seems pretty close. I only have a 10 min drive to dock....please say...
I can't afford to make a mistake so honesty would be appreciated. Had a 86 bow rider that now has a cracked head (wife swears it was done on purpose hehe) and am loking to get into something bigger and better. Found a 1998 proline 251 walkaround loaded and in great shape. Has a i/o 5.7 250...
Looks like I have a small oil leak at the timing chain cover. Maybe oil seal. I have a merc 120 153 86. The Seloc says that I do not have to lift the engine, but I've read that I do. I also do not have the tools at this time and will purchase if necessary. I'm thinking, is it hard to...
Mercruiser 120, 18 foot bowrider (Dixie), 15/17 prop. Only getting up to 3200 and 29 MPH. Carb was rebuilt last yr. New plugs. COmpression 120-125 all around. New fuel filter and water seperator. New belt, t stat, hose, impeller. Engine says rpms should be around 4-4200. HEard I should...
It's going to be long.... Its a mercruiser 120. In order, changed gauges and rewired, fixed gas tank, rebuilt the deck, changed inpeller, changed oils, gas filter, cleaned carb (was rebuilt last yr) did other small things, Checked compression - 120-125 across board. Changed broker throttle...
Got stranded last night...not fun. 1st. WHy would the hose just pop right in the middle. A lot of pressure for some reason. Maybe thermostat? Got it run for a little bit shut it down due to bilge water rising from hose leaking. I did have some electrical tape and held with rag while son...
When do you know o replace the throttle cable. I think mine may be sticking. After going forward then back to neutral...rpm say a bit high. But if I then put in reverse back to neutral rpms go back down to around 800(which is still high).
Thanks!
Joe
Throttle arm/lever that connects from engine to carb snapped in half. Oh, mer 120. Replacement for that stinkin piece of metal is like $100. UNbelieveable. Any good recycled places to check instead?
Thanks!
Joe
Ok here's what I did...in novice terms so bare with me. Put it in forward on remote. Book said to turn prop clockwise. This is where I might have made the mistake cause I tried to turn the prop with it in forward and tried to turn the prop in the forward motion but it did not budge. Then I...
OK finally finished the deck. I decided to leave the access panel to gas tank just incase....made the panel, but unfortunately am just off in a few sections by less than 1/4''. I am putting the rug back which has rubber backing, so should I be worried about water getting down their. There are...
Is the impeller cramed into the housing or is it suppose to turn easily. In the picture the last guy put this in and you can see from the "spines" they are bent in order for them it to fit????
Thanks
Joe
Working diligently to get my deck down, I start feeling this extreme hot pain on my rear..........................I sat on a FULL tube of resin hardner which of course broke open and emptied itself on my pants. Word of odvice to the other newbies....read the warnings on these packages. 5 hrs...
I plan on putting the rug back...esp since my fiberglassing is not so perfect, can I just use bottom paint to over the deck...just trying to save some cash.
If not, what should I use knowing rug is going on?
Thanks.
