    Thanks. You can see the bearing cage is rusty; certainly not a good sign. I didn't know about boats with lube reservoirs in the boat. How does that work? Does the drive stay topped up all the way to that cover I removed in the pic? Have Mercruiser I/O's always been like that.

    I got an eye on the head to block area and it does appear to be, I’ll say “overlapped” or “keyed-in” rather than a head slapped on a block. Do I have to remove the powerhead as a whole before I can split the head from the block? Thanks!!

    Hmm. Not really shore power but our neighbor about 40 feet away has a fully powered boathouse in the water with a fridge, lights, ice eater power and that kind of stuff. Doesn’t seem like that stuff would leak to water. Any way to check for stray juice like that?
