The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I know a great deal of you are unfamiliar with the motor in question, but I thought maybe if this goes well it would be good to have it archived on iboats. Obviously you are all more than welcome to drop in any hints, tips or tricks along the way.
The motor: Albin 021 manual PDF here It’s in...
Have an Albin 021 which I love.
Have just got the boat so not too familiar with it. Long story short, ran great when it was sunny, as soon as the rains came it became damn near impossible to start.
I pulled the plugs and sure enough water has gotten into the tank. I will have to take the tank...
Had the problem for a while now.
Basically stalls after about an hour of use, then wont start again for about 20 mins. Renovated the double overhead Solex carbs this winter, problem persists. I have read a fair bit on here and deduced the following:
# Heat causing ignition coil/cables to fail...
Just launched the boat after the winter and found she has a leak just under the head. You can see from the video. The water is warm when it comes.
Any ideas?
Cheers
The boat is up for winter, so I am planning a big project.
I have a 50hp Mercury currently sat on this:
Its basically too small a motor, I want to put an 80/90hp on. The problem is that I need a short shaft outboard to fit the boat. If I could place a long shaft on the boat, then it would be...
Hello!
Recently purchased Cascade 19. Noticed it was very very tough to bring from reverse through to neutral and on to forward. After much tinkering find the shift cable is at fault.
Change the shift cable, in the process of testing and tightening when all of a sudden the stern-drive jumps...
Not massively optimistic I will get so many replies to this, but I am considering building a cover for the stern of my boat, thus covering the motor. The motor is really noisy and the fumes can fill up the boat pretty quick if i have the top up.
So i am proposing to build this:
Currently...
I got me a propolicious question. Looking to replace my mercury prop, 50hp, 2-stroke, 1986, Mercury, short neck.
How do I measure, current prop diameter and pitch?
Many thanks
G
Just hauled my boat out of the water after a long fun summer and found my Trim Fin had fallen off and is now laying at the bottom of the Baltic.
Searched this site, but cannot find where to purchase a replacement.
My motor is a classic fifty Mercury 45 hp 2 stoke from 86. If someone could...
I have a 50hp 2-stroke from 86. In principle she is running good, but I can't help noticing fuel ebbing away from the exhaust and tell tail when I start her. I have checked inside cannot spot any leaks. What else should I check?
i have a 21 foot boat pictured below.
I have a short Mercury "classic 50" on it at the moment. I mean short as in its short in the lower unit.
i would like to know if its possible to put a outboard on it with a "long" lower unit.
Is this possible? I am guessing no. Just long lower units...
I have a 2-stroke 50 HP Mercury from 86 and is just now is being a pig to start. Was turning it over with the choke in for some seconds and I noticed fuel dripping into the water from the exhaust. Had the lid off, checked the fuel system but no sign of a leak. Also it seems to spit more fuel out...
Hi all
Currently running a 50HP Mercury 2 stroke outboard from 86 on the back of the boat pictured. To it's credit it runs fairly reliably, but it was kept in salt water for at least 10 years coupled with horrendous conservation in the winter time. So she is showing her age a bit around the...
Cheer me up guys and girls. I just started my Mercury 50hp 2 stroke on land. Got it going nicely, but the muffs weren't really tight against the motor (first time for me), so a lot of water leaked out the side. anyway, I didn't get any thing from the pee hole. I stupidly didnt push the muffs...
Just had my engine serviced (Mercury Outboard 50hp 2 stroke) The chap suggested I change the propeller as it was kinda beat up. I am new to boating so took his advice. I was given a spare propeller when i bought the boat, so we replaced it with that. I just noticed that the replacement prop was...
Mercury 50HP. The engine is not locking to the trim bar, so if enough power is applied (In reverse) the engine lifts out of the water. Reversing practically impossible.:( Any ideas?
Ladies and gents of the iboats forum. This is my first post to your forum, but hopefully not my last. I seek advice. I am from Sweden and i'm kinda new to the boat owning fraternity. Anyway, try as I god damn might, i cannot get a service for my outboard... A common problem in Sweden, think it...
