    Mercruiser wiring

    My 1978 TR228 (305 CID) engine quits when the ignition switch is released from the start position to the run position. I just replaced the ignition switch as the mosy likely cause, but that did not help. The engine starts while the starter is turning, but quits when released. Please help.
