    Year for 5hp 2-stroke

    I have a Mercury 5hp 2-stroke, serial no OD988694, model 394, Japan made Supposed to be 2005, but can't locate the serial no on any of the ID websites to confirm, and one shop said 1996. Driving me mad!!! Can anyone help? Thanks, RobL
