    Merc 150 won't turn

    I recently purchased a boat with Twin Mercury 1996 150HP, needless to say it needed some TLC. I've always had engine starting issues due to carb issues (fixed with 100 hr service plus carb tune up) but even since then still always a challenge to get going.     1996 Mercury 150, Alternator or Stator?

    First time boat owner trying to figure out how this boat is wired and wanted to know if the engines have an alternator or a Strator? Checked through numerous parts sites for that engine and didn't see any alternator, just a stator... Didn't even know about what a stator was. :confused:
