Hi Brains Trust, The below was posted elsewhere, and claims Frank Acampora’s incorrect with his tutorial video on timing and carb sync. I used the video and his sticky, and it works a treat, but someone thinks it’s wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. ———————————————————-...

    Opinions please.... 😊

Hi All, I am going to retire my 1988 Force 125h.p, and a new Evinrude E-tec 115 h.o g2 was recommended for my set up. I understand it's a new engine, but does anyone have any feedback or known problems with this engine? I'm going for power steering as an option, otherwise it will be stock...

    125 H.P. (1258F8C) 1988 overheating

Hi Guys, I just replaced ( last week) my water pump. I have a tell tale, and the water is pumping hard. I have also replaced the exhaust plate, and associated gaskets, as there was a build up of sludge in the water jackets. The engine ( power head) had a complete rebuild ( other than the...

    Force 125 Impeller/OEM Question

Hi All, I recently purchased, and received the impeller in the below link. It has a 5 year warranty ( for a part I replace every year), but my question is this. My original part has a brass insert, this one is hard plastic. Has anyone used one before and not had a problem? Is there any...

    1988 Force 125 Overheating

Hi All, I return seeking some wisdom. Since I bought my boat, I have replaced the exhaust cover and gaskets, as the previous one was full of very old sand ( hardened like concrete). The boat has a new water pump and impeller, timing is correct, and link and sync is done. I went out on the...

Hi All, My LOWER engine mount is stuffed. I have previously bought 2 new re manufactured upper mounts, not yet fitted, but it seems the lower one is stuffed. Do I spend $50.00 on an old Chrysler mount, or $200.00 on an OEM re manufactured unit? Installation tips PLEASE. If I am going to do...

    1988/125 Engine Mounts and steering

HI All I have been very quiet the last few years- all is well with the beast. I have a confession, I did get an old school mechanic to check my girl over- not that I don't trust the forum- I just do not trust myself, and for a few hundred bucks, I have peace of mind. Let's face it, unless you...

HI All ( again) My 1988 125 has a coupe of issues which I am fairly certain caused by an incorrect adjustment on the forward controls. There are a couple of issues, so I'll list them so as to paint a better picture and hopefully get a resolution to my problem. * Idle speed screw on tower at...

    Chrysler L drive

Hi All I was driving my kids to soccer yesterday and noticed an older boat on the side of the road. It had an L drive ( mercruiser) set up, but the leg was all white and it had the 'cone' on the end of the prop, which makes me ask, per the topic of the thread, did Chrysler ever make an L...

    Forward Controls

Hi All Just a tid bit of information for you if required. I was dropping the kids to soccer training the other day and noticed an older boat with a Force outboard. Having a 1988/125 myself I took a closer look. It was the same vintage ( give or take) 85 Force- no power tilt trim attached...

    Power tilt trim washer

Hi all. A while ago I took the pump off my ptt and the washer/spacer on top of the motor shaft fell out. Its the one that recesses into the small nipple on top of the pump unit. I manufactured a new one from a bread board which has now failed. I have an engineering firm that will make one from...

    Towershaft Stop

Hi All I had posted within another post, so I though I'd start a new topic in case there is some more ideas/feedback. My Idle adjustment on the tower shaft ( 1988/125hp/Prestolite Ignition) does not seem to stay where I want it. The adjustmen does not seem to 'lock' and as a result, when...
