    Lower unit shift rod... whats the trick????

    I have a mid 80's 75hp Johnson. I pulled the lower unit to check the impellor. Now I'm trying to get it re-assembled. How does one get the shift rod to stay perfectly in align so it goes through the little connector at the top of the engine (well bottom I guess). Rod always wants to turn on...

    75 HP Johnson dies when put in gear.
