1984 Merc 4.5 No tell Tale. I have it in a barrel up to the top of the cav plate (there are no inlets above it).
No water comes from the tell tale. I fed a wire right through to the head. I see steam coming from inside the hose.

I recently fired my 1987 70hp 3 cyl and found it to not smoke very much. It was the first fire up of the season and usually it smokes like crazy. The alarm went off when I first fired it up and went away after 30 seconds or so...
Merc 1987 70hp 3 cyl. I was doing some work to the tilt trim unit and I accidentally installed the battery backwards.
I energized the ignition and bumped it over a couple of times on the key while testing for power to the tilt trim.
