Mercruiser 140 Points to Delco EST results in low RPM at WOT

Actually I cannot or better said will not wade into emissions and corporate ideology..well kinda that is.. Here because it can, to the point of the matter engines do quite well there. It's called combustion efficiency. Now with that being said stick to the factory settings or you will blow up...

7.4 mph misfire when throttle up

I believe you have a ignition problem, if I were in your shoes I would pull the dist cap with the plug wires in place. Turn it upside down, take a well insulated screw diver and place the tip in between the center node and the outside node and turn the engine over. You need to check for cracks...

Looking at a boat with Volvo power

I'm with Mr Danforth on this topic, the 8 1 would not be my first choice. Actually a lot has changed in the past ten yrs with big blocks, their is a guy named Vortec Pro, getting a very loyal following due solely his success with big blocks. What he did with peanut port heads was eye popping...

7.4 mph misfire when throttle up

This must be a Volvo engine? What type of fuel system. Carbed, tbi or multiport? This misfire does it clean up and smooth out say after 2500 rpm. Does this misfire occur during throttling up and then smoothing out? Can you hold a constant 4000 rpm once you get the engine spun up.

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

Your probably right on pitch...perhaps lower trying to pull a skier. Now as to blades.. 4 always win the day...lmao age has a tendency to cement opinions..

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

I now have a GT, great little ride. With that being said I can't imagine trying to ski behind it. I believe the boats only weights about 700lbs dry. But to your question a 4 blade will give the best bite, with a 70 hp engine...maybe 30ish mph. 18 pitch 17 if there still made. A skeg guard and...

    Merc 4.3 Quench Distance

Yes you have tinkeritis syndrome...most do here just so you know. Based upon how you talk about boat engines I will ask...do you want a tourqe monster or a high strung race engine. High winding boat engines are very very expensive. 5000 rpm to 7000 rpm. This might sound unconventional...don't...

    Merc 4.3 Quench Distance

You must decide what you want to achieve. Both Bondo and Mr.Danforth have given you a way to go.

    Merc 4.3 Quench Distance

I would stay away from anything more than 9 something..low 9 compression ratios. There is very little gain and a very high risk of detonation, now getting your quench right is much like the happy wife happy life adage. Make no mistake From 9 to 10 you might gain a 3% gain in power and only if...

    Merc 4.3 Quench Distance

Mr Danforth why 140 I am rather curious, that would make the combustion process rather poor. My latest tinkering with engines has been with big block rv motors, they are heavy duty cycle engine's and operate at optimum effenciecy at 185/200 degrees. Make a note here i am not challenging your...

I missed perhaps the most simple probable cause, thermostat. Stuck open they are a big issue in efi motors, check and verify.

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

Good for you, well done. As to the rich smell. Marine engines just run rich, now EFI has a electronic choke built in. The coolant temperature unit senses the temp of the engine. If cold the system will pulse a minute more gas (choke) until the engine warms up..There are times this sensor will...

    Mercruiser 7.3 d-tronic diesel

That is amazing, you might check the value of that engine on the open market before you do much. 15k would not surprise me in the least..25/30? Lol we live in a crazy world. This engine you have is in a highly detuned state, doubling it output would be quite easy. In its current state watch the...

got a question about a future V6 to V8 repower...

Building your own can be tricky these days, plan it out top to bottom and then you get to track down parts. And that may stun you. Parts house's are backordered across the board. Check a few options before you jump.
