    1984 starcraft islander

the completed boat project list has a few in there. I believe it's a sticky. Most of the pictures have been nuked thanks to Photobucket's cash grab a few years back.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of adding the new lifting point just under the garage door (when it's open). As long as I can execute it correctly, it shouldn't get in my way. I also have this dream about replacing my current garage door, and have the new one installed so...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

Don't forget the smile it put on the guy driving that tractor at the dump! When I dumped a boat, I saw a big smile form on the driver of their crusher machine. U-turn and he speed up to slam into it. Smile from ear to ear on that guy. :ROFLMAO:

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

When you get to drilling holes for the sides, I did it freehand via a handheld drill. I found it was easier to drill half way through from the outside, and then drill from the inside to ensure the holes lined up. then a little finishing work via a round file to get the bolt holes to line up. I...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Reminds me of my current engine hoist. Instead of getting one new, I figured I would try and score a used one for cheaper. What I got was one that had been used to lift something very heavy. the boom and one of the legs had a bow to it. I didn't even notice the leg until I tried to pull the...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

And last night I found myself at Sportsmans warehouse. Wandered back to the boating and fishing section. I spent some time looking at the new fancy fish finders. One I loved had a massive screen, made by Garmin. While messing around with it, I thought "how the heck do you select?!" Then I...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

I had to google that stuff to see what it was. https://www.boatoutfitters.com/coosa-composites-board I remember back when this stuff was just a pipe dream, a non-wood transom and flooring material. 😍

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Going through my old build threads, Jet and the Nova. Blast from the past! Neat to see how much my yard has changed over the years. My apple trees alone!! I'm about to rip them out here soon, I can never get decent apples out of them, however they are really good for privacy since they are so...

I would love to see a picture of that setup.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Same setup on my StarChief. I love them, but reading online they suggest using the power ones for boats 22ft and longer. I feel like I don't want to spend a grand here, but I do like the idea of having more control...

    1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration

Carpet seems so 2010, but good on the toes! Looks good.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

The other idea would be to create something inside of the garage, but something underneath the garage door when it's open. Really that's just wasted space anyways. plus, I could use the walls to keep it steady, and I could leave it in place for future maintenance tasks. Wife started going...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Looking at that thing, I wouldn't do it so nicely. 🤣 Probably just two posts, a couple supports on the sides, and then a post crossing the top with something to give it some left and right support on the top, and front and back support on the side posts. but then it almost seems like it might...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Well this weekend i did some rough measuring to see if it would even be possible to fit the islander in my garage far enough in order to clear the garage door and get that engine pulled. Plan would be to use the lifting points that I used to hang the StarChief from the ceiling back when I did...

    1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration

I remember how big the 18ft ss v5 was that I helped send up to Canada via dozer so many years ago. 22ft seems like it would be a nice size for one of those. (y)

    1974 Chieftain 25 "Adventurer" Restoration

Only thing bugging me is the trim switches. everything else has a theme, and the switches seem too nice. a little use should correct that, or some light sanding to add a little "Age/wear"?

    Seller says exhaust bellows torn

I bought a boat where the seller told me he had some rivet leaks that he believes he dealt with. What I found was a crack in the engine block right behind the manifolds. :ROFLMAO: Poor guy probably had some rivets that needed sealing, but I can't see that causing a big enough issue to really...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

On my Chief I have a set of nauticus trim tabs. that Chief also has a big Chrysler 140hp outboard on the back, and along side of that I have a little 9.8hp merc. It took a bit to really bring the stern out of the water. the one time I had the islander out, I noticed the same thing happening...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

As I'm more in the planning stage of future things, I have been looking at the addition of trim tabs on this 22ft islander. I forget who came up with the name, but we call it the Dorm Room fridge due to the overall boxy design. I love the setup I did there, the little merc has it's steering...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Another issue I noticed was with the trolling motor/remote troll mount. seemed a little loose to me. they also gooped up some white sealant over the bolt holes, it's not 5200 but it did peel off easily with my fingers. I can't quite tell yet if the bolts go all the way through, or if they are...
