    Coupler o-ring size?

Anyone know what size o-rings go on these? https://www.iboats.com/shop/sierra-1-4-npt-chrome-plated-brass-male-tank-18-8071.html

    14' Gamefisher project pics

With lots of help from the friendly folks here, the boat I was given back in April has turned out nicely. It started as a standard aluminum fishing boat that didn't run, and has become (once the blind is finished) the duck hunting boat I envisioned. One key aspect of the paint job was that my...

    Priming over bare aluminum/paint patchwork

I have a 20 year old 14' aluminum jon boat that was recently given to me. It's bare aluminum on the outside, and painted gray on the inside. Although the boat sat out in the elements for years, the paint's in pretty good shape. No leaks, either. Something possessed me to want to strip the...

    Varnish or epoxy?

I'm replacing the plywood on my aluminum transom. It's exterior grade plywood, no voids, and I painted it with 4 coats of spar varnish. I read quite a few recommandations here for epoxy/resin. Anything wrong with having used varnish?

    Plywood transom, again

Hope this works... attached are pics of my new (to me) 1995 14' aluminum Sears Gamefisher boat. I've taken off the old rotten pieces of plywood seen on the transom in the photos, and I'm replacing them with plywood of the same size and shape. The new plywood is exterior grade, with 4 coats of...

14' Sears Gamefisher - max load?

I have a 1995 Sears Gamefisher aluminum boat, built by OMC. The placard is weathered, and I can't tell if the max load is 500 or 600 pounds. Anyone know, or know where I can find out? The USCG MIC database says that OMC is out of business. Lord knows Sears is no help.

Light aluminum boat: reinforce whole transom?

I was recently given a 1995 14' Sears Gamefisher boat. I removed the rotten plywood on the transom. When I replace it, can I just copy the small trapezoidal shape which covers just the motor clamp area, or should I reinforce the transom with wood that covers the whole transom?

Hurt the bearings if you run it dry?

I have a 15 hp Force (two stroke). When I received it, it hadn't run in ten years, and the fuel system was full of sediment and corrosion. Now that I've fixed it, and it runs well, I am loathe to leave fuel in it. I disconnect the fuel line and run it until it quits. Since it's a two-stroke...

    1990 Force 15 hp - where to find an 8 x 6 prop?

I have a 1990 Force 15 hp motor. The owner's manual says that an 8 x 8 1/4 prop is standard, but the motor pushes the boat well with the 8 x 6 prop that came with it. I can find 8 x 8 1/4 props, but not the 8 x 6 (10-tooth spline). I'd like a spare. Anyone know where I can get one?

Stock 8 1/4 or 6 inch pitch on Force 15 hp?

I have a 14' aluminum Gamefisher boat with a 1990 (Sears) Force 15 hp motor. Given to me by someone who bought it used and never used it, the motor hadn't run in 10 years. After some new parts and work, the motor runs like a top (I hope I haven't jinxed myself), and gets the boat up on plane...

How to prep aluminum before applying Gluvit?

I have a 14' Gamefisher riveted aluminum boat which I plan to paint someday. When the boat was given to me (I'm finding that there's no such thing as a free boat), it was full of rainwater, and not leaking a drop. I'd like to seal the seams with Gluvit anyway, because I think that as the boat...

It ran without cooling for a minute-damage?

I was given a 1990 15 hp Gamefisher/Force motor that hadn't run in 10 years or so. After rebuilding the fuel pump and carb (which were full of sediment and corrosion), it started on the second pull. I shut it down immediately, then put thelower end in a deep bucket in water deep enough to...

    Wash off vinegar/water?

When preparing to paint an aluminum boat, after washing it with a 50/50 vinegar/water mix, are you supposed to wash off the vinegar/water mix or let it dry? I'm guessing you're supposed to rinse it off, but it's late and I'm prone to dumb questions.

What to do for jagged screw holes in aluminum?

I was given a 14' aluminum boat that had a swiveling seat screwed to one of the thwarts. The seat was old, broken, and dorky-looking (just like me!), so I took it off, leaving four 1/4" holes in the aluminum. How do I take care of the holes? I would just smoth them off and leave them be, but...

What is roll and tip painting?

I've tried to figure it out by reading peoples' posts, and I think I get it, but can anyone describe the exact technique for "roll and tip" painting, please?
