    music and fishing?

I know this sounds stupid to ask but Im technically new to fishing from a boat still. (second season) I was told both that music in boat while trolling some 40 feet deep with downriggers was not going to affect fishing at all. Then was told just the opposite... What do the iboats community...

    Electric trolling motor head depth

I just bought a minn kota saltwater series trolling motor. I bought the 60" model just because I'm not sure if I will be getting a bigger boat in a few years or not. My question is does it matter how deep I let the motor head in the water? Or should I only let it in 12-24 inches like another...

    Electric Trolling motor battery location?

Re: Electric Trolling motor battery location? I was just at Home Depot and had a sample wire so they said it was a 14 gauge. Is that too low or should I go bigger?

    Electric Trolling motor battery location?

I just installed a 55 lb Minh Kota bow mount trolling motor on my 19ft bayliner. Not sure where to put battery so I put it all the way in back next to starter battery and ran cable up to connection plug in front of boat. I noticed after using it for the first time that it's not that powerful...

I have this 7.5hp Mercury trolling motor that just took out of storage for the year and it seems to rev up and down on its own. I'm not sure why? Sounds almost like its skipping a beat...

Salmon fishing with downriggers in Washington State

I started this year fishing for Salmon and have some newbie questions. 1. What is with the humming noise I get from the downrigging cable? 2. How can I avoid the downrigging ball from showing up on the fish finder? 3. How much effect is my 7.5hp 2 stroke kicker motor affecting me not catching...

    Timing at idle speed?

All posts and repair book mention setting the timming at W.O.T. and need a special prop to put on to do this without the boat moving. Can't I just check the timing at idle like any other vehicle? 86' 125 Force Outboard

Does my outboard need a pee hole?

I swapped a 86' to for a broken 89' powerhead. The 89' did not have a pee hole exiting the engine but I noticed the 86' does have a pee hole right next to the thermostat. Is it necessary or should I plug it and allow more water to run throughout the engine at running speeds? Thanks, Dave

    Force Parts Online?

Anyone know any place online that is reputable for buying Force outboard gaskets and parts? I just took my flywheel off of my 86' 125 Force and the key went flying or it was just sheered off. Not sure where it went. I tried a few local store sites like www.seawaymarine.com and...

    86' Force Timing issue

I'm new to boat outboard motors. I wanted to set the timing and idle speed according to the manufacture repair manuel. I bought a timing light that says it can switch from 2 cycle and 4 cycle engines. I connect it and it shows the idle speed jumping about 200 rpm up and down. (1000-1250) Also is...

    '86 125 Force tempature question?

I just installed a temp gauge on my dash and it seems to work fine but I notice something odd as the engine is warming up. The lower half of the head is getting hotter faster than the upper side of the head. Is this normal since it's closer to the exchast? or should I be looking for a gasket kit...

marine deep cell vs marine starting battery

Is there any difference between a deep cell and a marine starting battery? I have both but use one to run my trolling motor. Can I use the starting battery if I need to to troll with?

Is water suppose to come out of this hole?

I'm not sure if water coming out of this hole is ok or not. It's an 85-89 125 Force combo outboard. Exhaust does come out but water also sprays out too. Is this normal?

125 Force starts but dies after 1 sec

I have a 1985 125 Force powerhead on a 1989 125 Force body. I had it running this last weekend but noticed neutral was off buy just a tad towards the reverse. So I made some adjustments to the linkage after following the directions from the manuel. Then had trouble getting power back to the...

Swapping a 1986 and 1989 power house (engine)

Re: Swapping a 1986 and 1989 power house (engine) Crack is on the port side of the engine right over a piston. Not really a crack but a missing peice of block about 1/2 wide. I bought this 86 one but found it is 5 inches shorter than my origional. So guess I'll have to do the power house...

I'm considering buying this 1986 125 Force to swap the main motor top half with my 1989 that came with my 89 boat. It currently has a crack in the block. Will they match up and work?
