What year is my Mercury out board

Below is a list of sites where you can find information on the year of your Mercury outboard motor. You will need the motor H.P. and serial number. The serial number can be found on a plate located on top of the transom mount. Some of the serial numbers in the lists below will cover several...

    Attn. any Moderator

Can we have a 'sticky' here with a link to a list of serial number and model years? It seems like we get a few questions a day " what year is my motor?" There must be a non-selling site with a list of serial number/year.

    Add temp guage

I have a 1966 1100SS I think I should add a temperature gauge to. Where do I put the sensor? I don't see any plugged holes on the exhaust plate.

    How to fix this.

Here is what I am finding under some of the spiders cracks. Most are just in the gel coat and I am grinding them out, but some are into the fiberglass. The holes show up after I grind through the gel. How should this be repaired?

    Flipping Over

Well it took me about 2 hours to get my boat in this position. Now what? I have a wench at the shop I will bring home Monday to lower the hull down. The ratchet straps worked to get it up but no down. Found lots of spider cracks in the gel coat and lots of blistering in the paint. Seems to sand...

    Lake Mead

I was in Vegas over the weekend and decided to visit the lake, looking for launch sites for this summer, I had never been there before. The lake is down about 110feet according to the park ranger. The valley of Las Vegas is draining it faster than the snow melt can keep up. Still a very large...

I found a spot that needs repair.

While preping the hull for the final primer coat I found that 1 of the splash well drain was loose. Digging at it, it fell out. Found some rot after cutting part of the inside of the transom out. I ordered some Seacast. I plan on grinding out anywhere a hole is and filling with Seacast...

    Fisherman beware

This was e-mailed to me, thought it may be of some interest. This is an actual emergency room photo of a fisherman who lost control of his high-speed bass boat in West Virginia .. Warden's believe that he was traveling at a speed of approximately 75 mph at the time of the accident. He was...

    Adding under deck tank.

New here and will have many questions. I am restoring a 1966 Powercat 15ft, 4 seater, outboard. I bought a Merc 1100SS for it and the portable tanks will be too small. I bought a 25gal tank for under the deck. Never installed one before. I will be adding an electric pump, I have a deck fill/vent...
