    on the late 70s and on up, do these motors have a set shiftrod height measurement and adjustment.Anyway the ones where the shiftrod screws in. I noticed in the secret files only 50HP up settings are there.

    I bought this motor not running 1974 9.9 Johnson Mod 10E74S. I was told a mechanic said that year had problems with exhaust and it was hard to tune correctly. Has anyone heard that? Did these engines have any problems that are known.I have gone through it and have it ready to test.At below...

    What is a spark tester?

    I read reference to a spark tester that states, set it for the spark to jump 7/16s inch. What is this tester and where can I get one reasonably priced? I also read they can be got for as little as $7.00. Thanks!

    Transom height and motor??

    I have a 14 ft lund WC. My neighbor has the S model,Both have a transom height of 16 3/4 inches.The neighbor has a 9.9HP Johnson shortshaft,It runs fine. I mounted a 15 HP Evinrude shortshaft on mine and at about 1/2 throttle the prop loses grip? it just reves really high and loses traction.Does...
